Kaya Miller, originally from Los Angeles, California, moved to Prosper, Texas in 2017. She attends Prosper High School as a senior. This is her third year on staff, and she is co-editor-in-chief of Eagle Nation Online and editor-in-chief of the print newspaper Eagle Nation Times. Miller is on the Prosper debate team as historian. She is also president of the Spanish Honor Society. Miller is also on the Dallas Rowing Club Juniors team. In her free time, she enjoys baking and playing guitar.

Before driving to the final four game in Houston, Texas, the Prosper Girls lacrosse team are sent off by the Prosper Fire Department. The girls lost  11-15 in the state semi-finals against Coppell. The game was hosted at Friendswood High School.

After taking first place at regionals in "Literary Criticism," freshman Suhani Singh holds the plaque with her championship and state-advancing teammates freshman Sahasra Dittakavi and sophomore Nainika Ronanki. Dittakavi and Ronanki also will advance in "Ready Writing," after Dittakavi took first and Ronanki claimed the third-place qualifying spots. UIL held the Region I-6A competition at Rock Hill April 26. These qualifiers will compete May 15 at the state UIL Academic Meet in Austin.

After golf regionals, sophomore Erica Lee, junior Kendall Simms, freshman Tatum Churchman, freshman London Pearson and junior Sophia Duque present their scores. The team finished fifth and were district champions. Churchman led with a score of 71.

Running toward the ball, sophomore Ava Germany dribbles past her opponent. "It felt great to make it to state," Germany said. "The games leading up were all games that had people biting their nails. It came down to the last minute in every playoff game it felt like. I think the biggest challenge our team faced during state was confidence. Everyone believed in us to win we just had to believe in ourselves and even with the result we got I believe we could have been more confident."

After their competition, the girls robotics team celebrates advancing to state. They competed against 38 other teams. All three of the PISD robotics teams made it to the semi-finals with 5411 RoboTalons being the 4th seed alliance captains. They teamed up with 9105 TechnoTalons and came in 5th place. 9492 LadyTalons were chosen by the 7th seed alliance captain and came in 4th place.

At the Prosper town hall, theatre officers from PHS, RHHS and WGHS stand with Fine Arts Director Tim Doyle and Mayor David Bristol after Theatre in Our Schools was proclaimed Feb. 27. TIOS is a national campaign to promote and spread awareness about the benefits of theatre education. "Theatre in Our Schools Month is important because it raises awareness about the value of theatre education in schools," junior Annabelle Nugent said. "It emphasizes the positive impact performing arts on students, promoting creativity, collaboration, and individuality."

Brainstorming, senior Taryn Stilson writes poems in her journal. Stilson's favorite hobby is creative writing. "Sometimes as I write, I just continue on an idea and then it kind of morphs into something else," Stilson said. "So I think that that's what happened, and I created my own dystopian society. After the DECA district competition, the PCIS students gather and celebrate the state qualifiers. The district seven competition was hosted on Jan. 16 at the Irving Convention Center. The 58 students that qualified from PHS will compete at the state competition in Houston on Feb. 17.

In the PHS arena, winter and spring sports will be introduced at "Meet the Eagles." Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8, and will begin at 6 p.m. Athletes from the baseball, wrestling, track, powerlifting, softball, basketball, golf and soccer teams will be introduced.

At the Prosper vs. Rockhill game on Jan. 2, head basketball coach Scott Imes performs a speech on sophomore and teammate Jaxson Little. Little is fighting leukemia, and Prosper has supported him with the hashtag #LittleStrong. The first 100 people at the Varsity Girls basketball game, and  the first 150 people at the Varsity Boys basketball game got a #LittleStrong shirt.

In the PHS gym, senior Courtney Reed gets ready to donate blood. Carter Blood Care works with the HOSA organization to host a blood drive for students today, Nov. 27. Seniors can get an honor cord for graduation if they donate twice – once in the first semester and once in the second semester. There will be another opportunity for 16-year-olds (with a parent-signed form) and 17-year-olds (and older) to donate in the spring. "Every blood drive we do saves so many lives," HOSA sponsor and health sciences teacher Kelli Factor said. "As you know, there is a massive shortage of blood available, so this really does make a difference for our community. Every pint collected can save up to three lives."

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Student Council honored PHS staff who overcame breast cancer by giving them gift baskets during the pep rally on Oct. 13.
