Eagle Brief: April 15 – 21

Prosper girls team claims its 1st soccer program state championship
Running+toward+the+ball%2C+sophomore+Ava+Germany+dribbles+past+her+opponent.+It+felt+great+to+make+it+to+state%2C+Germany+said.+The+games+leading+up+were+all+games+that+had+people+biting+their+nails.+It+came+down+to+the+last+minute+in+every+playoff+game+it+felt+like.+I+think+the+biggest+challenge+our+team+faced+during+state+was+confidence.+Everyone+believed+in+us+to+win+we+just+had+to+believe+in+ourselves+and+even+with+the+result+we+got+I+believe+we+could+have+been+more+confident.

Running toward the ball, sophomore Ava Germany dribbles past her opponent. “It felt great to make it to state,” Germany said. “The games leading up were all games that had people biting their nails. It came down to the last minute in every playoff game it felt like. I think the biggest challenge our team faced during state was confidence. Everyone believed in us to win we just had to believe in ourselves and even with the result we got I believe we could have been more confident.”

  • Please join Prosper Eagles Baseball and the Prosper ISD Athletics community in supporting Jaxson Little and his family as we battle Jaxson’s leukemia together. Every donation, no matter the size, can make a difference. We will be wearing Jaxson Little Strong shirts for games at Rock Hill on Tuesday and Orange Out at Prosper High School on Friday.

Uplifting

  • Congratulations to the Women’s Soccer team on their achievement of winning the 6A UIL Soccer State for the first time in PHS history.

  • The track girls team finished fourth at the Area meet with many qualifying for the Regional meet.
  • At the UIL Academic District, PHS brought home two district trophies and advanced 11 additional students to the regional tournament in two weeks. The following students will compete at the regional tournament on April 27 for a chance to attend the state tournament in May.

Kaya Miller, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Kaya Miller, originally from Los Angeles, California, moved to Prosper, Texas in 2017. She attends Prosper High School as a senior. This is her third year on staff, and she is co-editor-in-chief of Eagle Nation Online and editor-in-chief of the print newspaper Eagle Nation Times. Miller is on the Prosper debate team as historian. She is also president of the Spanish Honor Society. Miller is also on the Dallas Rowing Club Juniors team. In her free time, she enjoys baking and playing guitar.

Tess Gagliano, Executive Design Editor
Tess Gagliano is a Senior at Prosper High School and currently serves as an Executive Design Editor for Eagle Nation Online and Eagle Nation Times. Outside of school she enjoys reading, writing, and working on her own art. She also plays club volleyball, makes jewelry, and helps take care of foster cats and other animals on the family farm.
