North Texas is expected to see a week of warm temperatures and increased storm activity. There will be rain, thunder and wind this weekend and next week, April 11 to 15, with the most rainfall of 0.98 inches on Sunday.
The week will begin with rising humidity and scattered storms Saturday through Wednesday, some of which could become strong. Forecasters warn that these storms may produce heavy rainfall, gusty winds and occasional hail particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.
“It really just depends how close the dry line is to North Texas to make our opportunity a little more favorable to see rain and storms before eventually next week Tuesday into Wednesday,” Weather Tracker TV Chief Meteorologist William Cole said. “The way it looks right now this upper-level storm system comes out and could give us one more decent opportunity of rain and storms, and even potentially some higher end severe weather as some point next week.”
By midweek, conditions will remain unsettled, with a mix of clouds, sun and continued storm chances. Temperatures are expected to range from the mid-70s to upper 80s, maintaining a humid springlike pattern, similar to earlier in the year with rainy conditions continuing for a week.
“The rain is okay, as long as it’s not flooding,” H-E-B Employee Karen Johnson said. “It helps out with the plants that we take care of everyday, so we won’t have to do much with them if it rains, so it’s very much needed.”
Storm chances persist into the end of the week with periods of rain and thunderstorms likely to hit on Friday, April 17. A slight cooldown is expected heading into the weekend, though rain chances remain in the forecast.
“Understandably it’s springtime but I’m over the rainy weeks, and ready for it to stop,” senior Abimbola (Davina) Afolabi said. “I have to walk outside to my bus and it’s really inconvenient”
While many of the storms take place after school, students are concerned about conflicts with activities and events with unpredictable temperature swings.

“I normally spend my free time outside, so it’s pretty sad when I’m stuck inside,” freshman Emma Noll said. “I do love the smell of the rain however.”
Students may also find the bright side of the rain enjoying its peace helping them study, relax, and promote mindfulness.
“Some activities I do when it’s a rainy day or week is I like to get my favorite snacks and drinks and go to my bed and watch some of my favorite shows and movies,” sophomore Kayla Sarai said. “I also like to sit by the window because the rain is very calming to me.”
Residents are encouraged to stay weather aware as changing conditions could impact outdoor activities, travel and school events, especially during peak storm periods.
