Smiling at the camera, seniors Adithri Raghuram and Riti Patel hold boxes filled with peppermints, coloring books toys to distribute to students later. Supplying Smiles has reached over 20 states and their schools. "We chose to address educational inequity through these means as school materials are accessible, meaning with fundraised money, we can easily purchase them," Raghuram said. "I love watching people’s faces light up and seeing that our impact makes a difference."

Reading a student's question, veteran Stuart Sax answers it as he tells his story. "And that's an important lesson in life, even for your generation now, is to be aware of everybody around you," Sax said. "Because what would happen if suddenly a fire was to break out in this room? You would all become each other's keeper. Each of you would help each other to get out."

Years into his career, Nichols finds the deepest satisfaction not just in the content, but in seeing his students suddenly grasp a complex idea. He teaches not only history but also economics, which often provides the most visible breakthroughs. "I think, you know, when I'm trying to think of a specific memory, I have so many," Nichols said. "But in the classroom, it's the aha moments, right? Lots of times, because I teach economics as well, students suddenly realize and get a concept, and then they connect that to their personal life. I think that's really exciting for me."

These Prosper ISD students are volunteering for the association's Summer Lunch Program in collaboration with the LovePacs food pantry. "What a lot of people don't understand is, when they think of Prosper, they think of affluence," Vice President Kristi Izquierdo said. “But, Prosper is quite large, and it touches five cities, (including) Frisco, Aubrey, Celina and McKinney. So as those areas grow, so does the need for support.”

Librarian Stephanie Riley partnered up with the USDA Forestry to receive a Moon Tree. “We also have a digital globe, but it's like a citizen science app where students can also help collect data that actually gets submitted to NASA to help with research about tree growth and everything,” Riley said. “So once we get it planted, then we'll start bringing everybody into it.”
