Eagle Brief: Oct. 2 – 8

Holding+trophies%2C+seniors+Maxwell+McCleary%2C+Lauren+Stein+Maiya+Oyakawa%2C+Arjun+Chati+and+junior+Elianna+Barger+celebrate+winning+first+place.+The+Prosper+Marching+Band+placed+first+at+the+Plano+East+Marching+Invitational+held+on+Sept.+30.+This+year+their+band+show+name+is+Deep+in+the+Heart+of+Texas.

The Prosper Marching Band placed first at the Plano East Marching Invitational held on Sept. 30. This year their band show name is “Deep in the Heart of Texas.”

  • School will be off Oct. 5 – 9.
  • Junior class ring registration is due Oct. 3.
  • Schedule for yearbook retakes that will be held in the library Oct. 19 with Cady (seniors schedule separately with Legacy studios).
  • The Prosper Choir Fall Concert will be held Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the PHS auditorium.
  • Meet to talk about books, eat donuts, and make friends, this year’s book is “The Last Magician” by Lisa Maxwell
  • Model UN is holding their monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 2nd before school in room 3103 from 8:10 – 8:30 a.m. and after school in the LGI from 4:15 – 4:45 p.m.
  • Angels Among Us is an organization dedicated to fundraising and providing help to organizations with a notable cause. If you’re interested in becoming a part of our team, reach out to the club sponsor Mrs. Caitlin Sickels for more information.

Uplifting

  • Prosper High School Broadcast and Video Production students were awarded 12 out of 23 Lone Star Student Production Awards nominations by the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy Awards). Only three other schools in the state were recognized.
  • Varsity Cross Country Girls won the Jesuit XC classic and Varsity Boys finished 3rd.
  • Prosper Marching Band placed first at the Plano East Marching Band Invitational.

Kaya Miller, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Kaya Miller, originally from Los Angeles, California, moved to Prosper, Texas in 2017. She attends Prosper High School as a senior. This is her third year on staff, and she is co-editor-in-chief of Eagle Nation Online and editor-in-chief of the print newspaper Eagle Nation Times. Miller is on the Prosper debate team as historian. She is also president of the Spanish Honor Society. Miller is also on the Dallas Rowing Club Juniors team. In her free time, she enjoys baking and playing guitar.
