Grace Williamson is the 2020-2021 Editor-in-Chief of Eagle Nation Online. This is her third year on the school newspaper, and she was previously the 2019-2020 sports editor. She plans to strengthen the newspaper as a team, and help promote brilliant reporting and coverage this year. Following graduation, she plans to major in criminal justice at a currently undecided college. When she is not working in the newsroom at school, you can probably find her spending time with her dog, Newt. To celebrate a publication accomplishment, adviser Lisa Roskens, senior Mark Chrissan, superintendent Holly Ferguson and senior designer Gary Garrett, take a minute to let Chrissan show his designs, which recently won an award.  Chrissan holds a poster of his design that represents the cover of Medical City Children's Hospital's "Kids Teaching Kids Texas Recipe Book." Chrissan's designs won him the opportunity to create the designs for the book. "I'm excited and I feel honored," Chrissan said. "I'm excited to see when it's all done."

During a drill, sophomore Evan Bish blocks No. 56 sophomore Zach Barnhouse. Bish plays as a defensive end and Barnhouse plays as an offensive lineman. "Spring ball is a time where we don't really have junior varsity or varsity," Bish said. "We basically just work on getting stronger as players."

With crowds waiting to be let in to the stadium, Texas Rangers fans gather for opening day April 6. Stadium requirements list masks as optional, and while all seats were sold out, not all of them were filled. The Rangers played the Toronto Blue Jays and lost 2-6.

With the seniors in green and underclassmen in gray, the archery team stands together to take a photo during the Archery State Championship. Out of the 13 Prosper contestants, freshman Isabelle Raider was the only one to get a perfect score. The team placed seventh out of 40 teams that competed at state.

Speaking before a crowd of new transfer students, senior Emily Reish instructs them on how to complete their activity during the new student orientation March 18. Reish is a student spirit leader this year, and an ambassador for students who transferred to Prosper in January. "We had a bigger turn out than I expected," Reish said. "The kids were very interactive, and we were able to notice new friendships being made."

Coated in ice, the pond at the front of the Star Trail neighborhood development in Prosper sits peacefully blanketed in snow. Last week, large sections of Texas were hit with a snowstorm that caused power outages and water issues. In Prosper, the entire school district was closed Feb. 11-19.

Basking in the sunshine, senior Emma Hutchinson holds up a smiley face sticker she received from a Hope Squad member. The Hope Squad handed out stickers and candy while greeting students and teachers entering the high school the morning of Feb. 1. This week is Hope Week, which includes creative dress up days and involvement for all students.

Hope Squad has organized Hope Week Feb. 1-5. Dress up days are encouraged for students to participate in.  The final day will be Red Day to support American Heart Month.

Prosper Wrestling Academy head wrestling coach Sam Iturrino explains the rules and guidelines of the USA wrestling tournament on Saturday, Jan. 16 in the Prosper Arena. The local academy hosted the tournament that had more than 700 wrestlers from around Texas and the country. Prosper Wrestling Academy was founded in 2020 when Rock Hill High School opened and the only club wrestling team in Prosper became affiliated with Rock Hill, leaving Prosper High School without a  club to train the up-and-coming wrestlers until the new academy opened.

FFA members competed on Friday, Jan. 8, at the Collin County Livestock Show in both floral arrangement competitions and plant growing competitions. Several students took home ribbons, including junior Brooke Black who in addition to winning first place in the symmetrical silk arrangement competition, also won reserve champion of the entire show.

Sitting still for the artist, a young girl receives a holiday face painting. The annual "Christmas on the Square" festival in downtown Celina, Texas was held Dec. 2. The event featured festivities, including horse-drawn carriages, bounce houses, Christmas carolers and face painting.

As her ceramics class learns to fire Raku clay, junior Paige Schultz watches the kiln fire up. The process of Raku firing requires the specific clay to be heated at 1,830 degrees Fahrenheit. "It was so interesting to fire this clay," Schultz said. "It's cool to watch it being fired because with normal clay that goes into the kiln, you don't see it happening."

Greeting students that enter the Nest, the annual Hope Squad pumpkin shows off student signatures. The pumpkin is used for students to express what they are grateful for this year. Thanksgiving break will start Nov. 23, and school will return Nov. 30.

As the theatre department prepares for their upcoming winter show, senior Grayson Aron tunes his guitar. The theatre department will film their virtual December show this week. "Moments to Moments" is a combination of scenes, songs, and student-made poems about love, body image and mental health. The show has a gold and black color scheme to support the Hope Squad.

Beaming through the morning mist, the sun rises over Erwin park in McKinney, Texas. Sometimes found practicing at Erwin park, the cross country team competed at district Oct. 30, and sophomore Dawson Svoboda placed as the district champion. The team will race against the 6A Division I in the region championship Nov. 10.

with senior LJ Richardson placing 5th
and senior Chase Parham placing 8th for the boys' team.
"They competed amongst the best," King said. "We're very proud of them."

With ribbons lining the hallway, the school honors Red Ribbon Week Oct. 26 through Oct. 29. Red Ribbon week was created to spread drug abuse awareness, and provide tools for prevention. Student council has created dress up days for this week to promote awareness.

Starting off the foggy morning invitational, senior Abishai Aryee catches up to her competition. Placing No. 12 in the varsity women's 5-kilometer run, Aryee ran a final time of 20 minutes and 44 seconds. Junior Aubrey O'Connell won the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:53.62. "I’m really excited for track season in the spring because we didn’t get much of a season last year, and I think I have a lot more potential," O'Connell commented when asked about her upcoming track season, aswell.

Signs on every entrance to the school remind students and faculty that masks are required on the premises. Along with masks, social distancing and repeated sanitation are followed on school grounds. Teachers have rearranged the desks in their classrooms to allow extra space between students.

Sophomore Aubrey O'Connell races in the 5,000-meter competition. O'Connell won the state meet and was named "Athlete of the Year."  "If there’s one thing I learned about Aubrey this year, is she’s got more fight than anybody, and she definitely proved that today," assistant coach Ty Morton said. "She was behind until about 200 meters left, and that other girl couldn’t handle what Aubrey was bringing with her."

The varsity Lady Eagles softball team grabbed their helmets, gloves and bats Feb. 15 morning to face Pilot Point at 9 on Prosper's home field behind the MPF. Then, the team will took on Keller at 7 p.m. Junior varsity teams also had games scheduled, too.

The boys in Show Choir snap their fingers as they sing "Little Saint Nick" by the Beach Boys. The group will perform the piece again this Friday, Dec 14. "The most important thing I would say about show choir is that it would be the most entertaining class you could be in," junior Austin Mann said.
