MTV’s Video Music Awards to highlight 2020 artists, frontline medical workers

Even as it stands ready for yet another play via computer, artist Billie Eilish’s music video for her single “Everything I wanted” stands nominated for the MTV. Video Music Awards’ video of the year. The VMAs will play Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. central time. Taylor Swift’s single “You Need to Calm Down” won the video of the year award in 2019.

MTV’s Video Music Awards, hosted by Keke Palmer, is set to take the stage Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. central time, and will stream live from New York City.  Pre-show performers include Machine Gun Kelly, Blackbear, Chloe x Halle, Jack Harlow, Lewis Capaldi, Tate Mcrae and Travis Barker. MTV’s Nessa Diab and Jamila Mustafa will host a 90-minute pre-show event, as a kick-off before the awards begin.

This year’s show will honor frontline medical workers through performances by doctors, nurses and other  first responders around the U.S. As a part of the main show, artists up for nominations, such as BTS, The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, DaBaby, Maluma, CNCO, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas will take the stage for performances.

The 2020 Video Music Awards will air live across MTV’s digital platforms. A follow-up review of the VMAs will publish to Eagle Nation Online within the following week.
