Haley Stack is 17 years old and a senior at Prosper High School. She started journalism in her 7th-grade year and has continued with it since. She currently works as an advocate for student journalism by campaigning for New Voices Texas and speaking to journalism students across the country. She was honored at the Women's Media Center gala in Nov. of 2018 where she was awarded the ‘Young Journalist’ award. She also attended the 2018 TEDWomen conference in Palm Springs where she gave a talk over the importance of student journalists. She also participates in the UIL Academic Journalism team and won numerous awards including a Tops in Texas runner up in news feature writing and an ‘Excellence’ in Commentary Writing at the Journalism Educators Association.

The spring pep rally featured a dance competition between different departments. The math department wore shirts adorned with the phrase Vote for Pedro, a reference to the early 2000s movie Napoleon Dynamite. Math came in second to the science department at the competition.

Senior Jordan Oliver, No. 3, steals the ball in a defensive play against Plano Senior High School. Oliver finished the game with 25 points. Her efforts helped the Lady Eagles win 63-62 against Plano.

Senior Josh Davis, No. 11, and Sophomore Luke Chancey, No. 33, block the ball from Plano Senior opponent Senior Stanley Joseph,  No. 10, in  the center. Both Eagles efforts helped Prosper win 57-53. Prosper will face off against McKinney High and Plano East this week.

According to the State Fair of Texas website, a.k.a. BigTex.com, the 2018 fair will run Sept. 28 – Oct. 21. Only a few days remain to attend. Hours of operation include these:  
Tuesday – Thursday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m., 
Friday – Saturday: 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Parking, gates and ticket booths
open daily at 7 a.m. 
Haley Stack wrote the attached review of this years event. Even after my fear of throwing up and all the outlandish food options, Stack said, I would still recommend the state fair to anyone who is able to blow a couple of hours and a few hundred dollars to have a good time with their family.

The high school is sponsoring its annual College Fair in the cafeteria today, Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students and parents just need to register and print a barcode for admission. “If I were a student coming to this, I would be prepared with a list of questions that you can ask to any college, counselor Jeff Strowe said. “How big are average classes for first-year students? Do most students live on or off campus? Whats fun to do there? Im interested in taking this, how quickly can I start taking these classes my freshman year?
