Prosper theatre nominated for Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theatre Awards

Wade (Veeti) Laasila as Lionel in Cinderella

Wade (Veeti) Laasila, who played Lionel, in the production of Cinderella has been nominated for best supporting actor in Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM). Lighting design has also been nominated for an honorable mention.

This is the first DSM nomination for Prosper.

The award show will be held on May 18.

Haley Stack, Assistant Editor

Haley Stack is 17 years old and a senior at Prosper High School. She started journalism in her 7th-grade year and has continued with it since. She currently works as an advocate for student journalism by campaigning for New Voices Texas and speaking to journalism students across the country. She was honored at the Women's Media Center gala in Nov. of 2018 where she was awarded the ‘Young Journalist’ award. She also attended the 2018 TEDWomen conference in Palm Springs where she gave a talk over the importance of student journalists. She also participates in the UIL Academic Journalism team and won numerous awards including a Tops in Texas runner up in news feature writing and an ‘Excellence’ in Commentary Writing at the Journalism Educators Association.
