Kennedy Wyles, Chief Operating Officer

Kennedy Wyles is from Chicago, Illinois, but currently resides in Prosper, Texas with her mom and dad. She is passionate about writing, which she practices by reporting for the school newspaper and yearbook. She has received multiple UIL Journalism awards in headline, editorial, news and feature writing and plans to major in journalism in college. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her friends and family.

The boys lacrosse team holds up their 2019 DII State Championship trophy in celebration. The team beat Smithson Valley in the final game, 11-5 on Sunday, May 12, in the Texas High School Lacrosse League semi-finals and state championship at Ron Poe Stadium in McKinney. This is the first state championship win for Prosper boys lacrosse. “It was like a dream," Delano said. "And, I'm still waiting to wake up.”

These two broadcasters and their show, which airs Fridays at 5 p.m. the school's Radio with Edge station, just received the MarCom Gold Award for the second year in a row. "These two students along with script advice from Coach Berliner create what I consider true radio," Radio with Edge adviser Burt Lackey said. Junior Haley Stack and senior Neha Madhira take a break alongside the River Walk in San Antonio during the Texas Association of Journalism Educators Association's state convention held in San Antonio in October. The two journalists led a workshop there on student press rights and recently received a national award from the Women's Media Center for their work in that area. “It’s important to remember the power of your voice and how much speaking out and standing up can impact not only your life, but everyone’s around you,” Madhira said. “As student journalists, all of our stories are thoroughly researched and so when we do that, we are providing (readers) with accurate resources.”

Senior William Lewis leads "The Mighty Eagle Band" at a football game against the McKinney Boyd Broncos on Oct. 19. His second year at Prosper, Lewis moved up to drum major this year. Drum major is the highest ranking student position in marching band. “Will is the first male drum major that we’ve had in five years,” band director John Alstrin said. “I think that’s good for the band to have both boy and girl leaders so that they learn that it’s more like a family, and we all play a part.”

Although currently guarded off, the additional parking lot will offer an extra place for students to park their vehicles as the community continues to grow. “Certainly, as long as the community is concerned, I hope that they’re happy with the way we have tried to accommodate our kids here,” Assistant Principal John Boehringer said. “Obviously with the new housing developments moving in, the kids have to go somewhere, and PHS is it for the next two years."
