Show Choir performed a variety of holiday songs at their shows in the Black Box Theatre Dec. 6 and 7. The audience received hot chocolate before the show to drink as they watched.

Show choir will perform their group numbers once more at the concert this Friday, Dec. 14. Four other choirs, Varsity Treble, Varsity Mixed, Bel Canto and Chorale, will perform as well.

“Show choir wanted to put on our own production and sing more well-known and recognizable songs compared to the pieces we sing in Varsity Mixed or Treble,” senior Piper Wise said. “We rehearse every day in the dance room to ensure we know the choreo, but it took outside practice when it came to our solo pieces.”

The choir has had one other show, including this holiday performance. They will perform a new show in the spring.

“My favorite song was my song ‘Christmas Can’t Be Very Far Away,’” sophomore Alexis Mullins said. “What made (the show) special was that everyone got to put their own ideas and special twist.”

The group began to prepare for the holiday performance in the fall after their first show of the year.

“When I am performing, I feel at home,” junior Austin Mann said. “I make the most of it whenever I sing or do anything in front of a crowd. I think Show Choir is very welcoming for anybody who can sing or dance.”

Show Choir and the rest of the choir department also showcase their progress and upcoming performances on social media. Their Instagram, Twitter and Facebook handle is @PHSChoir01.

“I hope that we brought people warmth and joy for the Christmas season,” senior Kester Muthalaly said. “I love how the choir is working like a team. With every show, we keep getting better.”
