Homecoming Week, harsh weather causes heavy traffic

As the rain pours down onto the concrete, a rolling thunderstorm comes into Prosper this morning, creating traffic issues for students trying to arrive on time. The low today is 74 degrees while later today the high will be 92 degrees with heavy rain until approximately 1 p.m. The weather for the rest of the week will start to cool down with lows in the 50s and 60s.

  • The PHS tennis team will be distributing mums and garters on Sept. 22 at noon and Sept. 23 all day. They will be at the office by administration.

Uplifting

  • Among the 360 singers across the region, the PHS Choir has 33 students moving on in the All-State Choir process. Of our 33 students advancing, Prosper Choir had 20 students place in the top 10 in their individual voice parts. We also had 3 students earn 1st chair, and those students are Khyati Khanderao, Meena Vasudevan and Aditya Murthy.
  • Trisha Panicker and Aarushi Rana just received national excellence for a story they published their on how nonprofits in the community are serving the people of Prosper. You can find new stories of interest to our students on ENO every day.

"I've enjoyed (the different art) a lot because everybody has a different style, everybody wants different materials," Vasquez said. "They are creating things that they love on top of the things that they probably don't enjoy as much."
Students receive maximum points at VASE art competition
Made in Canva, the design depicts how the new yearbooks are on the way, and almost ready to be given out to students. The Eagle Yearbook staff worked on the book throughout the whole year. "We sort them into boxes alphabetically," senior Isabella Rodriguez said. "So when someone comes up to the table in the arena foyer, we can just go and find the book super easily."

Holding a fire hose to act as a ribbon, Assistant Fire Chief Shaw Eft, Fire Chief Stuart Blasingame, Mayor David Bristol and Town Manager Mario Canizares prepare to officially launch Fire Station 4. The department opened its doors to the public on April 28 at 3 p.m. "If there's a lightning strike, we can get an engine to that site location quicker," Bristol said. "Chief Blasingame is manning the station with a fire engine paramedic crew, so on that engine, it can handle any paramedic need as well as fighting a fire."

As the rain pours down, the water flows down from the dirt to the grass. The storm passed over Prosper High School on April 21 throughout the school day. The rain is expected to last until 3 p.m. on April 21.
A strong twist in the weather
As the sun sets, the orange fades into blue. The sun descended at 7:54 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Rain is expected tomorrow, April 11, starting at 1 p.m.

Caps in the air, the class of 2026 celebrates their final moments as Prosper High School students. 755 students graduated this year. "It's kind of bittersweet," senior Jerrick Jeyasee Kamaraj Christopher said. "Yes, I'm excited to graduate, but I'm going to miss the community here at Prosper. But, there's so many new opportunities that are opening up, so I'm very excited to explore all of that."
Seniors celebrate 2026 graduation
The photos display aspects of senior Trisha Panicker's life, from journalism to debate to spending time with her friends. Panicker will be double majoring in politics and journalism in college. "I want to continue the work I was doing in Prosper, from covering locals to reporting on community events and traditions," Panicker said. "The joy and purpose that this gives me will hopefully motivate my future endeavors during my time in university."
Senior Column: How journalism changed my life
Looking ahead, assistant Jimmy Frideley takes a break from his work as he contemplates his next job, which means leaving Prosper High for the Richland High campus. Frideley has been an AP for the past three years and at PHS for six. He taught social studies and special education before becoming an assistant principal.

In a collage of photos, senior Aarushi Rana showcases her highschool memories. Rana has been on the newspaper team for two years. "Journalism has my heart," Rana said. "I have made some of my best memories in this room."

Sophomore Jakobe Whale is spending his first year with the ENO Staff. Being certified in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator helped him get a spot with the team. After leaving Prosper after his first year in middle school and spending the last two years in a different school district, he returned his freshman year, glad to be back with Prosper and here to stay. During his free time, he mainly enjoys spending time with his friends or his family.

Senior Victoria Byers leads social media posts for Instagram, X (formally known as ‘Twitter’) and Facebook.  This is her second year as a staff member, and she normally reports football games as a Mighty Eagle Band member. As she continues to find more and more creative tasks, clubs and electives, she gets to finalize and lead in band, two clubs, along with joining three new organizations.
