Students celebrate, prepare for winter break

Pulling away from the curb, the charter bus holds the Prosper High School varsity Speech and Debate Team. They left for nationals in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Dec. 11. “We are in 3 different circuits,” senior Abhiram Vellanki said. “We usually do state, but we are going to nationals.”

  • Julie Cooper is one of 10 finalists for the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Community Leader of the Year Award, hosted by Community Coffee. There is no limit on how many times students can vote, voting closes today. View her video here.
  • The Nest will post a daily challenge on Google Classroom (tsvh47x) for the “12 Days of Nestmas” on Dec. 3 – Dec. 18, with one winner each day.
  • There will be dress up days each day this week. The themes include:

Uplifting

  • This week, PHS has holiday themed dress up days. See the graphic for specific details.
  • Winter break will start this Friday, Dec. 19.
  • ICE! at the Texas Gaylord is open from Nov. 7 – Jan. 7, 2026.
  • The Winter Olympics will take place on Feb. 4 – Feb. 22, 2026, with the opening ceremony Feb. 6, in Milan Cortina, Italy.
  • STEMbound is now operating a toy drive to help children in need. Toys will be delivered to a hospital Dec. 19. Between now and the 18th, students can gain one service hour by donating a toy. Students need to drop toys off in room 1213.

"You can't be scared to stand in the mud of a big story and tell the truth, even if it breaks your heart," Chesky said. "I make sure everything's ready for the test." Langdon said. "I train all the teachers, get all the rooms ready, get all the materials ready, get all the data ready."

"I've enjoyed (the different art) a lot because everybody has a different style, everybody wants different materials," Vasquez said. "They are creating things that they love on top of the things that they probably don't enjoy as much."
Students receive maximum points at VASE art competition
Made in Canva, the design depicts how the new yearbooks are on the way, and almost ready to be given out to students. The Eagle Yearbook staff worked on the book throughout the whole year. "We sort them into boxes alphabetically," senior Isabella Rodriguez said. "So when someone comes up to the table in the arena foyer, we can just go and find the book super easily."
News Brief: Yearbook distribution days approach
Holding a fire hose to act as a ribbon, Assistant Fire Chief Shaw Eft, Fire Chief Stuart Blasingame, Mayor David Bristol and Town Manager Mario Canizares prepare to officially launch Fire Station 4. The department opened its doors to the public on April 28 at 3 p.m. "If there's a lightning strike, we can get an engine to that site location quicker," Bristol said. "Chief Blasingame is manning the station with a fire engine paramedic crew, so on that engine, it can handle any paramedic need as well as fighting a fire."

As the rain pours down, the water flows down from the dirt to the grass. The storm passed over Prosper High School on April 21 throughout the school day. The rain is expected to last until 3 p.m. on April 21.
A strong twist in the weather
As the sun sets, the orange fades into blue. The sun descended at 7:54 p.m. on Friday, April 10. Rain is expected tomorrow, April 11, starting at 1 p.m.

Caps in the air, the class of 2026 celebrates their final moments as Prosper High School students. 755 students graduated this year. "It's kind of bittersweet," senior Jerrick Jeyasee Kamaraj Christopher said. "Yes, I'm excited to graduate, but I'm going to miss the community here at Prosper. But, there's so many new opportunities that are opening up, so I'm very excited to explore all of that."
Seniors celebrate 2026 graduation
The photos display aspects of senior Trisha Panicker's life, from journalism to debate to spending time with her friends. Panicker will be double majoring in politics and journalism in college. "I want to continue the work I was doing in Prosper, from covering locals to reporting on community events and traditions," Panicker said. "The joy and purpose that this gives me will hopefully motivate my future endeavors during my time in university."
Senior Column: How journalism changed my life
Looking ahead, assistant Jimmy Frideley takes a break from his work as he contemplates his next job, which means leaving Prosper High for the Richland High campus. Frideley has been an AP for the past three years and at PHS for six. He taught social studies and special education before becoming an assistant principal.
Assistant principal focuses career on student advocacy
In a collage of photos, senior Aarushi Rana showcases her highschool memories. Rana has been on the newspaper team for two years. "Journalism has my heart," Rana said. "I have made some of my best memories in this room."

For this episode, hosts Chatelain and Victoria Byers review and discuss Thundercat’s latest album, “Distracted” Overall, the album was rated an eight on the “Sound Spectrum” scale.
