Eagle Brief: April 8 – 14

Arms outstretched, junior Faith Tull and sophomore Brooklyn Reeves reach the climax of their performance. The pair performed I Know Where Ive Been from Hairspray. The song is basically about marching for freedom for black people and no more segregation, Tull said. Its really just the characters talking about how there is a plan, that there has been suffering, that there are things that they need to do and that they can do it together.

Theatre students perform songs, monologues, scenes at Cabaret

For the play 2023 play Queens, junior Mary Freitas stands with Prosper alumni Tate Lauby. Lauby played King Henry VIII, and Freitas played Queen Katherine Howard. This is Freitass third year in theatre and fifth year learning makeup techniques. She is dynamic, and I would love to see her strive for theatre, but I can also see her leading a company, Kirkley said. Either way, Mary has a very bright future.

Makeup artist’s journey, a path of color mixed with talent

Mid-discussion, juniors Pierce Polomsky and Sophia Sanchez and sophomore Aiden Hansen sit in the newsroom. Polomsky plays Squidward, Sanchez portrays Patrick Star and Hansen leads the show as SpongeBob. The show will open from April 13-15.

Cheering on Cedric while he fights a dragon, the Puffs represent their house while wearing their house colors. Junior Haven Sherman portrays Xavia Jones in the play. Ive enjoyed working with everybody and making close connections and friends in Puffs, Sherman said. This experience will help me in the future by helping me explore new characters that I play.

‘Puffs’ cast and crew prepare for opening night

During a rendition of the opera singing game, senior Chris Tamez, sophomore Averie Grace Benson and junior Titus Boyd sing with their given prompt - a gender reveal party. All three are also in the varsity musical class. I like being improv because as somebody who has English as their second language, improv gives me the opportunity to be more spontaneous when speaking or acting, Tamez said. It helps me in my daily life and in becoming more fluent in English.

Improv team performs first musical show

Unwrapping a gift, sophomore Luckie Cormier finds a dagger in the blue box. Cormier has been in two other shows in the department prior to her performance in Clue: On Stage. Clue opened Dec. 8. The show ran from Dec. 8-10, held at 6:30 p.m.

In line with her teammates, senior Talonette captain Kaley Carr holds her poms in her hands. Carr has been on the Talonettes since she was a freshman. Something I would tell my freshman self is to not stress because you cant control every little thing, Carr said. Talonettes has helped me realize that I dont have to worry about that stuff. I can really put my trust in others.

Senior captain reflects on history in dance

Sitting at the foot of the stage, Summer Haslam sings Castle on a Cloud as her character in the show young Cosette. Les Misérables will open from Nov. 3-5. The show will take place in the PHS Auditorium.

During the first episode of Behind the Scenes, host Cate Emma Warren discusses the upcoming fall musical ‘The Lion King Jr.’ This podcast features a few of the cast members including interviews from juniors Dylan Korsah, Madyson Heaton, and Lauren Grammer.

While recording, juniors Lauren Grammer and Cate Emma Warren look towards each other. Grammer plays Scar in the upcoming musical. Warren is the Stage Manager for the production. (Amanda Hare)

Cate Emma Warren is a senior who started in Prosper ISD in 2019. She is a HOSA officer, on the Prosper Theatre officer board, a part of the lacrosse team, and is a Girl Scout. Cate Emma loves photography because she believes it helps to tell a story. She hopes later on people will look at her work and see her passion for that. She is excited to be first ever Print Editor-in-Chief this school year and work on staff for the fourth year.

Amanda Hare, Executive Editor-in-Chief and Executive News Editor

Amanda Hare is a senior at Prosper High School and works as Executive Editor-in-Chief for Eagle Nation Online. She competes in UIL Journalism and has won awards in all five events including state runner-up headline writer twice. Amanda enjoys listening to music -- specifically Taylor Swift -- dancing, spending time with her friends and playing with her dog. After high school, Amanda plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station to major in marketing and business honors and minor in journalism.
