Eyes on the screen, senior Mahnoor Waqas, along with her teammates on the varsity debate team, prepares for their first tournament at Princeton High School. "With the amount of work we’ve done, it should reflect in our performance at the tournament,” Waqas said. "I believe everyone will be at the top of their game!"
At her desk, French teacher Emily Black types at her computer as she prepares for her next class. Madame Black is the only French teacher at PHS and also sponsors the school’s french club. “Between the four levels of French, I teach about 170 students,” Black said. “I am also the sponsor for the French Club here at PHS. I enjoy seeing students excited about the French language and culture. I really love the idea of trying to help other people fall in love with the language.”
The Fantasy Football League starts Sep. 5. As players begin to draft their athletes, they look for the best players to guarantee a successful season. Freshman Eli Deutsch gives advice on how to make this season a win.
Power washing tool in hand, senior Eli Heintz cleans a sidewalk. Heintz has owned his business Rapid Renew Exterior Cleaning for over one year. Rapid Renew offers services such as power washing, window cleaning and driveway cleaning.

Eyes ahead, senior Hannah Lee runs towards her waterpolo teammates. Lee plays as a goal keeper. Lee currently averages 5.5 saves per game. She is also part of the varsity swim and dive team.
Senior overcomes injury, dives in to help water polo team

As the color guard performs its routine, junior spirit leader and sophomore Nathanial Crabtree claps to encourage the audience. The spirit leaders usually have a week before the pep rally to officially decide what they want to do at the event. "We figured out Tuesday what we're running through, and then Thursday, we met up for advisory and switched it up," Crabtree said. "We had lots of last minute changes."

In front of the smart board, seniors Akhil Kotturi, Puranjay Prashanth and Vivaan Moharir present the different units of the AP Computer Science A course. Kotturi and Prashanth's nonprofit coding organization Project UCode held review sessions for students taking the AP Computer Science A exam at Walnut Grove and Prosper high schools on Apr. 24 and May 1, respectively. "We walked through some of the basic test taking tips and the overall unit structure of how the CSA test works," Prashanth said. "We also kind of advised people how to proceed on that CSA aspect. Writing things down and keeping track of everything is really important in succeeding in CSA, especially with the amount of information they give you. So we kind of give them test taking tips, walk them through an FAQ, and gave them an opportunity as questions when they could just easily ask one of the three members out there any questions they had about the test."

While greeting students at lunch duty, Associate Principal Paige Trujillo welcomes students back to Prosper High School. This moment comes from Aug 13., the first day of classes. "I love seeing everybody's new shoes, but, on a more serious note, I just love the energy in the building," Trujillo said. "Mr. Jones and I are here all summer while people are gone, so the building feels kind of sad without everybody in it. So, the best thing is when teachers come back and all that energy, and then y'all come back, and that's even more energy. I truly love this job, and I love Prosper High School. So when everybody comes back, that's the best part – coming back to school."

Jones Middle School welcomed 1,000 new students at the beginning of this school year. The middle school has a capacity of 1,500 students. Four new schools (elementary, middle, and high school) will be opened in August of 2025.

Ball in the air, senior Tyce Pierce on the Varsity Boys Water Polo team executes his next play. Pierce threw the ball into the back of the net in the middle of the third quarter. The Varsity boys team played against Hebron last Friday, and will play against Rock Hill tonight at 7 p.m. in the Prosper ISD Natatorium. “I like swimming,” Pierce said, “But when you incorporate a team aspect into it, it’s definitely more rewarding and more fun to win, and it’s definitely a better time overall when you have friends, as well as people you know playing the sport.”

"Volleyball is important to me because before I step on the court for every game I know I get to represent Prosper," Cox said. "This is something we take a lot of pride in."

The month of August marks Children's Eye Safety Awareness Month. The goal of the month is to educate parents and professionals about the significance of vision and eye safety for children. Eye vision not only affects children's learning, but also there development.

Prosper ISD students started their school year on Aug. 13. There are currently 18 elementary schools, five middle schools and four high schools. Richland High School is still under construction but scheduled to open for the 2025-2026 school year. PHS has over 3,807 students registered.
