Countdown to Columbus Day Weekend
Enjoy your five days away from school, students!
Taking a breath during the Alma Mater, junior Logan Thompson shuts his eyes and sings along to the music as the band plays. The game ended with a score of 42-16 and breaking Plano East's undefeated streak. The next game will be home against the Rock Hill Bluehawks at a game called "Battle Against the Birds," along with a Reynolds night, where eight-grade students in band from Reynolds can come to the game for free and interact with Prosper students in band and color guard.
One foot in front of the other, senior Erin Young stays ahead of the race. This year marks her fourth year with the cross country and track program. “What I enjoy most about running cross country is the thing that I love most – the people, the people make it the best, like just having your friends alongside you. Even for those hard moments and those hard runs, they help you push through,” Young said. “Even when you're like thinking, oh my gosh, this sucks. This is hard, they're going through the same thing with you. And it just makes a close knit environment. Everyone is so happy all the time. So like, cross country is a really nice and, super sweet environment.”
As senior Sarah Goddard sits at the new student table in the cafeteria, she related with new students that had just moved from Ecuador. “There were a couple of kids who only spoke Spanish,“ Goddard said. “I’m fluent in Spanish, so I sat with them for multiple days, it was really nice to connect with these students.”

Lifestyles
Because she said she likes them colorful and bright, sophomore Kendall McLachlin surrounds herself with her Converses. Her collection began 10 years ago. "I like (my Chuck Taylors) to all be the same style, just different colors," McLachlin said. "So that's usually the (shoe) I go to."

As she positions herself on the ladder, junior drum major and Talonnette Katie Lynn Sepper stands in front of the crowd and conducts the Prosper High School Might Eagle Band. This is Sepper's third year in the band and her second year on the dance team. "There are going to be hard things in life and you're not going to be able to do everything all the time. Just communicate," Sepper said. "The most rewarding part is inspiring others.

"We just went out there and do what we do," Latiolais said. "Defense and offense went out there and did their job so we played a great game and it showed."

Together for the first time after tryouts, the JV Eaglettes gather together for a team picture at the annual "Made It Meeting." Principal Nick Jones enforced cellphone rules during his first year as PHS principal in 2022. Students are not allowed to use these devices during instructional periods unless they have accommodations. "The states that have already banned phones needed to purchase areas to hold cell phones," Jones said. "The two main types are large cell phone lockers where students place their cell phone in during the day or individual magnetic cell phone pouches that students use during the school day."

"We (my family) kind of all were just walking around doing our morning routines, and we spotted one of our umbrellas was tipped over," freshman Kaden Wortham said. Throwing the ball up, senior Catherine Biju prepares to serve. Biju played along side her teammate senior Gaby Nielsen. "When I step on the court, I feel excited and a bit nervous," Biju said. "You never know what is going to happen in the match, so it can be nerve wracking to compete. Yet the challenge and working toward a goal makes it really fun."
Head bowed, junior Justin Alfano leads the team in prayer after the game. Alfano plays as the second string quarterback. "I thought it was great I was able to be a part of my team and lead the team in prayer because I like to share my faith in every way I can and spread His name, word, and gospel," Alfano said. "Being able to do that with my team made me really happy."
