Who: Prosper High School fall sports athletes and faculty

What: Meet the Eagles to introduce the fall athletes and celebrate the senior athletes

When: Saturday Aug. 17 at 7:00 p.m.

Where: Children’s Health Stadium

  • Football will play next against Westlake on Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. at Crusader Stadium
  • Volleyball will play next against Rockwell Heath on Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the PHS Arena
  • Tennis will compete next against Plano East on Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. at Plano East High School
  • Boys Water Polo will play next in the Texas Cup on Aug. 22 at the Lewisville ISD Westside Aquatic Center
  • Girls Water Polo will play next against Highland Park on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.
  • Cross Country will compete next in the Greenhill Luke’s Locker 6-mile Relay on Aug. 24 at 7:30 a.m. at Norbuck Park

Behind the curtain
Standing behind the podium, Parks Administration Assistant Director Kurt Beilharz presents the Doe Branch Park Master Plan to the Parks and Recreation Committee. Doe Branch is currently in its design stage and is waiting to be approved by the town council. "First we want to identify a design consultant, and we usually hire architecture and engineering firms or landscape architecture firms," Beilharz said. "We get a firm on board, and then we look for public input. Once we have their input, then we put together what's called a concept plan."

As the conflicts in the Middle East continue to intensify and bad weather is predicted for Thanksgiving week, juniors Trisha Panicker and Aarushi Rana discuss different perspectives of current events. "Now, moving onto Thanksgiving because that's coming up in less than a week," Trisha said. "Are you guys excited for it?"

Government teacher Rod McCall gives his third-period senior students reasons to get their voices heard by registering to vote for Election Day, which will be Nov. 5. “I tell the seniors year after year,” McCall said. “If the senior class were to go vote, they could alter Collin County politics.”

Anisha Mandem has been on staff for four years. She started as a reporter, was then editorial section editor and assistant editor, and is currently the Eagle Nation Times editor-in-chief. She will be attending The University of Texas at Austin next year as a neuroscience major. She plans to continue writing as a journalist on The Daily Texan.

Senior Column: Sports Editor remembers high school memories
As he looks forward to the next chapter, senior Zane Rarey has played lacrosse since fourth grade. He played lacrosse for Prosper since eighth grade. “I liked playing lacrosse in Texas more than anywhere else,” Rarey said. “The memories I’ve made here have been some of the best in my life.” .

Prosper students come together for relay for life
At the face paint station, senior Fiona Adams painted a smiley face. Multiple tables were set up with different schools and their Hope Squad programs, as well as other organizations. "I enjoy seeing all the little kids," Adams said. "I'm doing the face paints and it's really fun to make the designs and like customize it for what they want."
One step of hope
As the fire crackles, senior Anisha Mandem sits with friends and family, making s'mores during the weekend at Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Mandem enjoys spring break before she walks the stage at graduation on May 22. "It was nice to spend some time in nature and take some time away from school," Mandem said. "It was bittersweet remembering that it was my last high school spring break."
Staff showcases spring break activities
Grouped together on the grass, seniors Celo Dishong and Ellie York come together for a photo. The unified team is led by Coach Wright. "My favorite thing about the Unified Track is the competition and how everyone gets hyped about it," York said. "We get to bond more with the kids, from just partners, you're kind of helping them, but this you get to participate too, and it's just a fun environment."

Senior Erica Deutsch leads the Multi-Media section of the newspaper. This is her third year working for Eagle Nation Online. She adores photography and hopes to create a positive impact with her writing and podcasts. She is excited to publish video packages and continue sharing the powerful stories of others. Outside of school, she enjoys playing guitar, watching movies, trying new baking recipes, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
