As they work on Talon Tech project, seniors Nicholas Wood and Erica Fahrenthold create a nameplate with the 3D printer. SkillsUSA, one of the organizations here, trains students in the use of 3D printers and other equipment. “We’re expecting the SkillsUSA chapter to grow even larger this year once the word gets out – and members begin to invite their friends to join,” PHS sponsor Stephanie Riley said. “Theres also all kinds of industry connections that students can make by being a part of Skills. They can find out more about the careers they want to go into. It looks great on a resume as well.”

Shining a light on their homemade solar-powered car, group members junior Abigail Griffith, senior Kylie Sicilian and senior Joshua Cammack prep before the race begins. Performances in the event earned students a test grade, and the winners received 10 extra bonus points. I want to go into the engineering field, so I chose this class and Im taking another class for engineering as well, Sicilian said. I plan on going to Alabama University and majoring in aerospace engineering.
