Senior Elisa Arbaizas says she received inspiration for this state-qualifying piece, Golden Frames, by walking through an art museum. Looking through the lens of someone else walking the exhibit, Arbaiza wants to show her life from a different point of view. With this piece, I wanted to show how I’ve held onto past good memories and successes, comparing my present self to my past, Arbaiza said. The images are memories from my past, and I also emphasize the empty frames, representing the future. I have always referenced past good experiences and how they made me more scared of getting older and facing adulthood. With this painting, I wanted to show a personal struggle I have dealt with while allowing others to find relatability in my artwork. Photo by art teacher Jannette Church.

Senior qualifies twice for VASE state competition

In the attached editorial, the Eagle Nation Online staff takes the stance that artificial intelligence art generators hurt artists businesses. Artists are already losing business because of A.I. art generators, said sophomore Jake Radcliffe, who wrote this piece on behalf of the editorial board. Commissioning a piece of art from an artist can be expensive and time-consuming. On the other hand, using an A.I. to generate art is generally fairly cheap or free and almost instantaneous.

Taught by Brian Pierce in room 1037, ceramics allows students the chance to construct their own 3D models from clay, including bowls, vases, boxes, and more.

Clarifying details on a performance task, new art teacher and NAHS sponsor Violet Delaney leads her eighth-period AP Art History class. Mrs. Delaney additionally teaches Art 1, as well as Drawing and Design. What I love most about being an art teacher is just being able to have fun with my students every single day, Delaney said. (Especially) getting the opportunity to see the (students) problem solve by themselves, and then seeing their skills make a product that represents them.

Clapping for the new inductees as she sits more than 6 feet from others, Madison Woodard holds the society flower, a red carnation. Woodard, a former member of National Art Honor Society, earned “Gold Seal” at the Texas Art Education Association Visual Arts Scholastic Event four years ago with her piece called “Sea Dragon.” Former students, their parents, as well as district staff attended the ceremony, which carried rules designed to keep people safe from COVID-19. “I thought we were able to make it more elegant this year with the table settings,” sponsor Judy Seay said. “For me, that kind of compensated for what we missed out on as far as personal togetherness. I felt like we were able to compensate by going into slightly more elegant settings with tablecloths and centerpieces. It was more like a banquet as opposed to receptions.”

Senior Sophia Giasolli, donned with a medal won at the VASE state, holds her prize painting. That was my very first oil painting ... It is my childhood dog (Charlie), Giasolli said. In that painting, I tried to capture his eyes. I (find) that animals have really expressive eyes ... that was the main source of that painting.
