Students leave phones off, athletics ready to take others on

As the Talonettes are cheering, H-E-B staff members get ready to cut the ribbon. The H-E-B store in Prosper officially opened Aug. 13 at 6 a.m. As of right now, this grocery store chain only has one location in Prosper.

  • If you would like to level down from an AP or Honors course, you will need to wait until the end of the six-week marking period. A form will be available for you to fill out at that time.
  • As a reminder, there are no elective changes. The only changes that can be made at this time are schedule corrections.

Upcoming

  • Make sure to dress for success every day. For more school information, visit the student handbook.
  • In accordance with Senate Bill 12, parents/guardians have to give permission for students to join any clubs. Here is the link to the parental permission form.
  • Senate Bill 12 also prohibits the use of any personal communication devices during the entire school day. Make sure to bring your school-issued computer!

  • The first senior lunch is Aug. 22.
  • On Aug. 29, PHS will host its first U.S.A.-themed pep rally of the year. It will take place during “Eagle Time.” Check the modified bell schedule here.

Sitting in the hallway, donation bags and boxes lay in front of room 1238. The Stuff The Bus Food Drive occured from April 13-17. They accepted items like oil, canned meat and meals and small bags of sugar and masa.

Addressing the crowd, NBC Correspondent Morgan Chesky speaks about his experience reporting during the Guadalupe River floods. "You can't be scared to stand in the mud of a big story and tell the truth, even if it breaks your heart," Chesky said. "You don't need me, or a poster or anyone else in this world to tell you that you are indeed. Stronger than you think."

Speaking to a student, PHS Testing Coordinator Courtney Langdon prepares for STAAR testing.Following the altered bell schedule, testing will be over by 2:45. "I make sure everything's ready for the test." Langdon said. "I train all the teachers, get all the rooms ready, get all the materials ready, get all the data ready."

Caps in the air, the class of 2026 celebrates their final moments as Prosper High School students. 755 students graduated this year. "It's kind of bittersweet," senior Jerrick Jeyasee Kamaraj Christopher said. "Yes, I'm excited to graduate, but I'm going to miss the community here at Prosper. But, there's so many new opportunities that are opening up, so I'm very excited to explore all of that."
Seniors celebrate 2026 graduation
The photos display aspects of senior Trisha Panicker's life, from journalism to debate to spending time with her friends. Panicker will be double majoring in politics and journalism in college. "I want to continue the work I was doing in Prosper, from covering locals to reporting on community events and traditions," Panicker said. "The joy and purpose that this gives me will hopefully motivate my future endeavors during my time in university."
Senior Column: How journalism changed my life
Sketching at a desk, Sapphire Vasquez works on a portrait. Sapphire Vasquez is a substitute teacher for art. "I've enjoyed (the different art) a lot because everybody has a different style, everybody wants different materials," Vasquez said. "They are creating things that they love on top of the things that they probably don't enjoy as much."
Students receive maximum points at VASE art competition
Looking ahead, assistant Jimmy Frideley takes a break from his work as he contemplates his next job, which means leaving Prosper High for the Richland High campus. Frideley has been an AP for the past three years and at PHS for six. He taught social studies and special education before becoming an assistant principal.
Assistant principal focuses career on student advocacy
In a collage of photos, senior Aarushi Rana showcases her highschool memories. Rana has been on the newspaper team for two years. "Journalism has my heart," Rana said. "I have made some of my best memories in this room."

Trisha Panicker is a senior and this is her second year working for ENO, now as the Editor-in-Chief. She loves the town of Prosper and engages with the local community through her reporting. In addition, she is part of the PHS speech and debate team. In her free time, she enjoys going to coffee shops and reading.

Senior Victoria Byers leads social media posts for Instagram, X (formally known as ‘Twitter’) and Facebook.  This is her second year as a staff member, and she normally reports football games as a Mighty Eagle Band member. As she continues to find more and more creative tasks, clubs and electives, she gets to finalize and lead in band, two clubs, along with joining three new organizations.
