Depicted in the graphic made in Canva, there’s many different holiday activities to do during breaks from school. Prosper will host a Christmas festival featuring many vendors, live entertainment, a kids christmas shoppe, and more. There will be a community tree lighting at 7 p.m.

With the holiday season coming, there are many ways to spend time with friends and family around the Dallas-Fort Worth area with ice skating, Christmas light shows and more. Take a look at these events to attend during winter break from Dec. 22 to Jan. 5

Getting lit (with Christmas lights!)

See Christmas lights with your friends at the locations below!

The Light Park features many different bright lights, music and more.

  • Location: Riders Field 7300 Rough Riders Trail Frisco, Texas 75034
  • Hours: 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
  • Price: Purchase a $60 ticket at the entrance of Light Park or cheaper tickets online for $39.99-$49.99 depending on the date you choose.
  • Additional information: The Light Park is cashless and the online price will go up to $49.99 daily on Dec. 22.

Dallas Zoo offers a place to see many magical Christmas lights with over 2 million lights, musical performances and an opportunity to meet Santa.

  • Location: 650 S. R.L. Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Texas 75203
  • Hours:Nov. 14-Jan. 4 from 5:30-9 p.m.
  • Price: $10 add-on to your general admission
  • Additional information: Admission prices for the zoo varies on what day you choose.

    As depicted in the map made by GoGrapevine.com, guests are allowed to see find many different activities throughout the Carol of Lights. The event will take place on Nov. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. Admission for the event is free, but prices may vary for vendors and different activities provided. (GoGrapevine)

Festivals, carnivals, markets oh my!

The Prosper Christmas Festival is taking place right in our Prosper community.

  • Location: 250 W First St, Prosper, TX 75078
  • Hours: 3 to 7 p.m.
  • Price: Free (excluding vendors)
  • Additional information: Find out more above!

Coca-Cola’s Classic Christmas event has over 90,000 square feet of holiday magic, fun and lights to enjoy.

Some of these included baking treats like cookies, doing a movie marathon, making decorations, or dressing up in matching Pajamas.   • Price: The starting price range is $21 to $29 with additional purchases for parking, ice skating and the snow slide.
  • Additional information: The event has ice skating, snow tubing, ‘Memory Lane’ and collaborations with Cinemark for an outdoor theatre and Home Depot for an outdoor crafting experience.

Grapevine provides a unique experience with their ’37th Annual Carol of Lights’.

  • Location: 530 S. Main St, Grapevine, Texas 76051
  • Hours: Nov. 24 from 4 to 8 p.m.
  • Price: Free (excluding vendors)
  • Additional information: Experience the Singing Snowmen, Santa’s Race Track, library bus, food vendors, Jumping Junction and more.

The Galleria offers a large area to skate right in the middle of the mall.

  • Location: 13350 Dallas Pkwy #200, Dallas, Texas 75240
  • Hours: Depends on the day (click the link above to learn more)
  • Price: The admission rate is $13 and skate rental is $5.
  • Additional information: The rink has an array of decorations, lights and music to skate along to with friends.

Gaylord Texan regularly hosts showcases of ice sculptures, appropriately called ICE!, based on popular Christmas movies. This year, the sculptures will be based on the movie Elf.

Stay cozy inside with winter home activities

  • Run ‘movie marathons’ paired with warm drinks and sweet baked goods. Classics such as “Home Alone” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” bring out the ‘festiveness’ in families, while animated films such as “Frozen” and “Rudolph” bring light-hearted laughter.
  • Craft DIY projects like making gingerbread houses with your family, or tree ornaments.
  • Listen to Christmas music and rate them with friends similar to how ‘Sound Spectrum‘ rated them on the latest episode.

The photos display aspects of senior Trisha Panicker's life, from journalism to debate to spending time with her friends. Panicker will be double majoring in politics and journalism in college. "I want to continue the work I was doing in Prosper, from covering locals to reporting on community events and traditions," Panicker said. Caps in the air, the class of 2026 celebrates their final moments as Prosper High School students. 755 students graduated this year. "It's kind of bittersweet," senior Jerrick Jeyasee Kamaraj Christopher said. "Yes, I'm excited to graduate, but I'm going to miss the community here at Prosper. But, there's so many new opportunities that are opening up, so I'm very excited to explore all of that."
Seniors celebrate 2026 graduation
Looking ahead, assistant Jimmy Frideley takes a break from his work as he contemplates his next job, which means leaving Prosper High for the Richland High campus. Frideley has been an AP for the past three years and at PHS for six. He taught social studies and special education before becoming an assistant principal.
Assistant principal focuses career on student advocacy
Holding a microphone, Head Tennis Coach Curtis Martin praises his tennis players at their banquet. The event took place Apr. 29 from 6-9 p.m. Both JV and Varsity teams were recognized by their coaches, peers and families.
Eagle Brief: May 18 – 23
Looking back at her last year in Prosper, senior Srinitha Arikati created a collage of important moments. "I don't want to leave," Arikati said. "But I can leave knowing my people are going to be close by."
Senior Column: First time reporter reflects on her journey
Made in Canva, the design depicts how the new yearbooks are on the way, and almost ready to be given out to students. The Eagle Yearbook staff worked on the book throughout the whole year. "We sort them into boxes alphabetically," senior Isabella Rodriguez said. "So when someone comes up to the table in the arena foyer, we can just go and find the book super easily."
News Brief: Yearbook distribution days approach
Looking back on the memories she has made, senior Emily Logan created a collage of moments she enjoyed. Logan is going to the University of North Texas and is planning on majoring in Psychology. "It's been a long road," Logan said. "I'm excited to finally be at the first pit stop."

Senior Victoria Byers leads social media posts for Instagram, X (formally known as ‘Twitter’) and Facebook.  This is her second year as a staff member, and she normally reports football games as a Mighty Eagle Band member. As she continues to find more and more creative tasks, clubs and electives, she gets to finalize and lead in band, two clubs, along with joining three new organizations.

Sophomore Ethan Chatelain is back for his second year of being on the Eagle Nation Online Staff. He is super excited to see how this year will go. He spent all of his life in Texas, but moved to Prosper in 2020. When not writing articles, he is usually hanging out with his friends or making music.

Aarushi Rana, originally from Connecticut, is a senior at Prosper High School. This is her second year on Eagle Nation Online and she serves as the Multimedia Editor-in-Chief. In her free time, she enjoys photography, reading and watching movies. Through ENO, she hopes to enhance her community outreach.
