My journey to this class was anything but normal. I first started off in the media side of classes. In my senior year, a teacher recommended joining graphic design and helping out the newspaper team. After a couple of accidental mistakes and wrong course selections, I ended up in Modern Media 1. After that, a series of schedule changes landed me into B-day’s class where more than half of the class consisted of Modern Media 2.

The class felt fast. Everyone knew what they were doing, and everyone wanted to make ENO the best they could. I couldn’t help but feel lost. My first article was a news report about the new phone ban. It was hard and something I’d never done before, but seeing it publish gave me a new love for this art. From there, I wanted to do everything – from sports coverage to feature to podcasting. Looking back, I truly took every opportunity I got and always put out the best work.

To celebrate this journey, it would take more than just a couple sentences, but it is important to acknowledge those who have helped me throughout my time here.

I want to thank my family, who read every article I published and celebrated all my wins. To all my editorial board friends who spent hours helping me edit and teaching me basic rules, I will be forever grateful for your patience and support. To my friends throughout high school, thank you for being amazing people and allowing me to include everyone in all my works.

To my teachers who have played a big role in my journey, Mr. Logan & Mr. Hatch, thank you for always being ready for my questions and always giving the best quotes. To Mr. Tanner, thank you for always supporting us and always having your door open for everything.

And of course to our Journalism advisor, Mrs. Roskens, thank you for always supporting me and celebrating all my wins, even the small ones.

Without the impact of all these people, it would have been impossible to make it this far.

As graduation comes closer, it is scary to think I would be leaving all these people behind. No matter where I end up, I hope to carry these relationships close and never forget the art of journalism.
