Due to the threat of severe weather on Friday evening, Oct. 24, Prosper announced today that they have rescheduled the varsity football game against Allen High School. The home game is now set to kick off at 1 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 7 p.m. start time. This match up will determine the District 6-6A title.
With this change, the ‘Fright Night’ pep rally has been moved to Thursday, Oct. 23 with the spirit bell schedule. Students are encouraged to dress up in their best costumes and Halloween spirit.
Important information for students and families
Students that are in football-related activities including players, band members, cheerleaders, Talonettes and others will receive more instructions from coaches or directors about schedule changes, attendance and more about how their day will look with the earlier scheduled time.
“I’m in colorguard,” freshman Prisha Kalu said. “So, I’m excited about performing during halftime.”
Any student that would like to attend the game must be checked out by a parent or guardian. Check-outs for the game will be considered excused. Students will not be released if proper procedures are not taken place and it will be considered an unexcused absence. PHS encourages parents and guardians to check out through Skyward at least two hours prior to check out or come to the campus to sign the student out. Any student that is not attending the game will follow a regular bell schedule with dismissal at 4:15 p.m.
“Wear your best costume,” PHS administration said. “And bring your school spirit for a spooktacular gathering with cheers, games and frightful fun.
The ‘Elementary Night’ event that was to occur with the game has now been postponed and will be rescheduled to a later date along with its activities.
“We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff and community,” PHS school administration said. “We look forward to cheering on our Eagles at the 1 p.m. game.”
Students and any others that attend the game are encouraged to bring rain gear since precipitation is more likely as the game continues. The theme for the game, Halloween costumes, is staying the same. The game will take place at Children’s Health Stadium against the Allen Eagles in the ‘Battle of the Eagles’ football game.
“I believe that we’re gonna win,” counselor Alyssa O’ Connor said. “That’s my opinion on it.”
