H-E-B, a grocery store chain that says it values community, employees and quality, opened its doors two days ago, Aug. 13, 2025, after originally breaking ground on April 2, 2024. The grand opening ceremony took place at the Prosper H-E-B located on Frontier Parkway with people lined up as early as 5 a.m.

Several PHS groups, including the Talonettes, the drumline, the band and the Student Leadership Team, joined the H-E-B staff in celebrating the Prosper location’s official opening at 6 a.m.
“We had to get there at 5 a.m. which was super weird, because the drumline never had to go perform that early,” snare drummer Noah Scarbrough said. “It was actually really fun, I wasn’t expecting that many people there, but there were people waiting outside in the line.”
The store employs 570 workers and offers regular grocery products, a pharmacy drive through, curbside and home delivery, a BBQ restaurant and a garden. Surrounding the H-E-B is a car wash and a gas station.
As the 11th location in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, this particular H-E-B store is 132,000 square feet compared to the Plano and Frisco locations which are 117,000 and 118,000 square feet, respectively. This increase in size make it easier for the Prosper community to come, as the placement is near Frontier Parkway and the Dallas North tollway, a fairly busy road.
On the morning of the ceremomy, small gifts and coupons were given for the line outside, including a free cinnamon roll, $20 coupons, tickets to Rough Riders games and H-E-B merchandise.
Additional Information

Prosper ISD earned the 2025 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for Large School district, celebrating the district for academic excellence and its commitment to staff, students and the community. With this award, the district received $100,000 to go towards funding different projects. Only five Texas school districts were picked with Prosper ISD being one of them.

Looking Ahead
H-E-B operates from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Prosper’s growing population has prompted more stores to open such as Costco, Sprouts Farmers Market and Desi District.
“Be kind and patient,” Marilyn McNabb, H-E-B staff member said. “You never know what people are going through. They might just need to know that they matter.”
For more information on the new store, go to the H-E-B website, or visit them in person at 2145 W Frontier Parkway, Prosper.
