Smiling for the camera, the Varsity Debate Team strikes a pose. This past weekend, they traveled to Austin for the Annual Longhorn Classic competition. This includes senior Avery Parker, senior Muhammed Nije, junior Hassan Sarfaraz, senior Mahnoor Waqas, senior Mara Moral, and junior Tanish Chauhan.

Upcoming

  • Our Eagle Tennis team will be participating in a volunteer event to help get underprivileged kids food during the holiday breaks. They will be doing this through Lovepacs. The team will be taking donations until Dec. 18. If you would like to contribute, there will be boxes set up at the far side of the MPF, at the tennis office, for anyone willing to donate. Click here for a list of approved food items. The Varsity team will decorate the boxes packed with the food items so they can be hand out before winter break.
  • The Prosper Disciples club have a weekly meeting every Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. in room 1205. It is a student–run club designed to get students and followers of Jesus Christ closer to Him. The sponsor of this club is Spencer Bet.

Uplifting

  • Only two weeks left of the first semester until winter break!
  • This past weekend, our Varsity Debate Team traveled to Austin to participate in the Annual Longhorn Classic. Huge congrats to the six students who continued on to the semi-finals. Our debate team was in the top 60 out of almost 250 competitors. They are also in the top 100 in the nation!
  • Three students form the Prosper Auto Tech class, Hudson Ginty, Ashley Lane, and Ryan Boulet earned a spot to compete in the North Texas Automobile Dealers Auto Tech Competition. This competition consists ofabout 44 schools across the state competing against the state. Congratulations to Hudson Ginty, who won 1st place in the Technical Service Information ALLDATA Platform, and the Electrical Circuit Diagnostic and Identification events. Overall, in all 12 events, Ginty won 1st place!
  • Prosper Theatre attended the Texas Thespians Festival and came back with different awards. This shows the variety of different awards win by our theater students.

As she steps foot in the cold, photographer Ava Ruhter peaks outside to the ground covered in snow. No cars drive as everything remains silent. “When it snows, it absorbs sound which makes it even more quiet outside,” Ruhter said. “It looks like it should be Christmas morning.”
Eagle Brief: Jan. 13 – 17
Smiling for a photo in the crowd, junior Madelyn Rutledge and Amelia Easley received their respective award and class ring. The ring ceremony began at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. "Coach Easley has encouraged my development in sports medicine alongside my academics," Madelyn Rutledge said. "She has motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and engage with people I do not know that well."
Eagle Brief: Jan. 7 – 10
Amid the Government classes, mayor David Bristol visits students at Prosper High School. Bristol answered questions asked by students and participated in a Q&A. He served in the military, where he flew F-111Fs and F-15Es.
Eagle Brief: Dec. 16 – 20
After celebrating their banquet, the senior boys of the Water Polo team get together for a picture. In the picture are seniors Nathan Tang, Tyce Pierce, Shane Gorokhovsky, Hanna Lee, Nick Vargas, Kaiden MaGee. The banquet took place on Nov. 16. The last game was on Oct. 15 against Southlake.
Eagle Brief: Dec. 2 – 7
As they discuss a dive, junior Kiera Williams listens to dive coach Eric Ognibene. Williams competes in varsity water polo, varsity swim and varsity dive. "You can't be scared and be a diver," Williams said. "You have to just do it."
Eagle Brief: Nov. 18 - 22
Flags waving, students at Prosper High School honor our veterans. Veterans day occurs annually on Nov. 11. On Nov. 9 the Town of Prosper hosted a 5k, 'Fun Run', and 10k in honor of Veterans day.

In a collection of pictures, senior Jake Radcliffe makes his way through the first semester of his final year of high school. His one word resolution is "self-care." "Throughout my life, especially in high school, I have always prided myself on being able to do 'the most,'" Radcliffe said. "However, this approach to life came with its challenges."

In the north parking lot, trash piles up every day. Sgt. Christopher Reeves took this photo as an example of the litter that continues to be in the school parking lots. "We're not talking about a cup here, a water bottle there," Reeves said. "We’re not talking about a straw wrapper. This is disgusting. It's horrible. I was actually astonished by the amount of trash."

One word resolution: Reporter learns her way through high school
Through a collection of photos, senior Sofia Ayala reflects on last year to set this year's goals. This year, her one-word resolution is 'balance.' "This year, I'm looking forward to managing my time better and creating a balanced lifestyle," Ayala said. "I want to get more into journaling and finding new ways to de-stress as I go through the year."

Freshman Heather Davis is a swimmer and a player on the Prosper High School swim and water polo teams. Born in Georgia, she has moved to six different places until she moved here permanently. She loves writing and journalism, as well as photography. In fact, she hopes to enter into a couple of photography contests this year. She also likes poetry, and won an Honorable Mention award at the Collin County Poetry Contest in 2023. She is excited to finally start high school, and see how she can hone her writing and photography skills this year.
