CX Debate wins District, looks ahead to State

UIL CX Debate is advancing to state, winning their District meet on Jan. 17, held here at the high school.

The debate team brought home 1st, st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place, scoring between them 56 points. The maximum number of points that can be counted towards district competition is 48.

The winning students and their places are listed below:

1st place advancing to state Bryan Derebery and Mark Werner.

2nd place advancing to state Zach Elmer and Hunter Jordan.

3rd place and alternate to state Zane Smith and Joy Yochem.

5th place Jordan Ramsey and Brady Barton.

The CX Debate state UIL meet is set for March 19, at the University of Texas in Austin, with 64 teams having the possibility of qualifying. Prosper has two qualifying teams.

Other schools that have qualified for state include: Sherman, Grapevine, Midlothian, Mansfield Legacy, Dallas Samuell, Dallas Sunset, Dallas WIlson, Highland Park, Lindale, Galveston Ball, Fort Bend Elkins, Austin Johnson, Austin HS, Dripping Springs, Victoria East, Victoria West, San Antonio Memorial, Corpus Christi Ray.
