Boys basketball continued their solid season of play through christmas break and the first  two weeks back from late Dec. to early Jan. The boys competed in a tournament and then began their district run. They picked up wins against notable teams like Carrolton Creekview in district play, in addition to Garland and The Colony in The Colony Tournament. However, they suffered tough losses when facing The Colony a second time and McKinney North in district play.

Prosper went 6-3 in a span of 9 games, a sound record for the team. Sophomore Josh Davis averaged over 17 points per game in 7 games. For a sophomore, Davis has established himself as a major contributor for the Eagles, even with missing a few games with a hamstring injury. Another contributor for Prosper is junior Zach Wrightsil. Wrightsil is having a very good season at the small forward position and is a leading scorer for Prosper in almost every game.

Even with Prosper losing two of their first four district games, and playing most of the Colony Tournament in the loser’s bracket, they managed to win 6 games and continue their solid season. However, solid seasons don’t win state or even make a deep run in the playoffs. It is time for the boys to put the petal to the metal if they want to make this season more than a solid one.
