Playing a crucial role in the logistics of Civic Leaders of America, Texas Chief of Staff senior Mara Gonzalez Moral addresses the room with confidence. CLA is an entirely student-led organization with the mission of fostering civic engagement among high schoolers through regular debates, local conventions, information about current events, activism and volunteering opportunities. "Being a part of CLA has truly been the most rewarding activity of my high school years," Moral said. "I hope that if you join as well, you will find that you experience can be just as incredible."

As Jennifer Delano strikes up a conversation with Tiffany Ballard, they discuss the upcoming details for the Toyota Symposium. A PCIS event where students get the opportunity to make connections, and speak with professionals. “During my first year at Prosper, I taught all the marketing classes,” Ballard said. "Later, I was asked to lead the PCIS program to increase its enrollment. When I first took over, we had only 11 students. Now, we have 400 across Prosper ISD."

As senior Sarah Goddard sits at the new student table in the cafeteria, she related with new students that had just moved from Ecuador. “There were a couple of kids who only spoke Spanish,“ Goddard said. “I’m fluent in Spanish, so I sat with them for multiple days, it was really nice to connect with these students.”

With the assistance of Life Skills class adviser Ashley Romac, Steinbrecher then places the jar in the oven. "My favorite part of the class is watching the kids grow," Romac said. "That is watching the kids become more independent."

Following choir director Crystal Chamberlain's conducting, senior Jacob Morris, on the far right, sings the song "Begin, My Soul" with fellow chamber choir members juniors Landen Kellum, Brandon Rodriguez and Jake Radcliffe. Morris auditioned in the All-State audition process, qualified for the Tenor-Bass All-State choir and will perform with the ensemble at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio on Saturday. "I'm just really excited for the performance," Morris said. "It's a sad thing to say, but it is kind of rare to be a part of a choir where everybody wants to be there. But, when you get to the area round, everybody is super talented and wants to be there."

SkillsUSA, one of the organizations here, trains students in the use of 3D printers and other equipment. “We’re expecting the SkillsUSA chapter to grow even larger this year once the word gets out – and members begin to invite their friends to join,” PHS sponsor Stephanie Riley said. “There's also all kinds of industry connections that students can make by being a part of Skills. They can find out more about the careers they want to go into. It looks great on a resume as well.”
