While many fans were left disappointed by the overall Super Bowl, another main topic was the halftime show. As soon as the announcement was made that the Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny would be performing at this Super Bowl, many fans voiced their excitement. He has the most monthly streams on Spotify for the 2025 year. The Super Bowl stage was elevated to a new level with Bad Bunny’s halftime show. As the event date approached, a lot of fans and commentators weighed in on whether or not Bad Bunny was really the right entertainer for such a high-profile event in America. Supporters of Bad Bunny argued that he was by far the best choice because of his worldwide appeal and the way he has broken streaming records this year. On the other hand, people were just as passionate about their beliefs that it was not likely that an artist who primarily sings in Spanish could successfully perform at an American sporting event.
The growing political climate of the U.S. was fully put on display by the division among Americans. The recent polarization has reached new levels related to the use of ICE (Immigrations and Customs Enforcement) to enforce immigration laws. Bad Bunny made waves at the Grammy Awards when he stated that he is against ICE. During his Super Bowl performance, Bad Bunny emphasized themes of unity, love and inclusion.
Bad Bunny included some of his best hits such as “Titi Me Pregunto,” “Party,” and “MONACO.” All songs had an equal level of high intensity and a lower number of curse words compared to some of his other songs. The stage also had a great design with a lot of bright green plants, as well as a moment during the show that resembled a wedding and created a very memorable experience for viewers at home. Bad Bunny’s show had lots of color paired with high intensity songs, leaving many fans elated with his performance.
Overall, audience reactions to the halftime show were mixed. A lot of people really liked the creativity, quality of production and representation of culture, but some people thought the language barrier was an issue and even refused to view the event completely. Regardless of your thoughts on the performance, it has generated nationwide conversation. Super Bowl LX is sure to be remembered for so much more than just the final score.
