After opening on Sept. 3, registration and payment for all AP exams will close on Friday, Oct. 31. After paying through AP Classroom and Total Registration, AP students can rest assured that they will take their course exams for college credit from May 5 through May 23, 2026.
The price of each exam is $100, but a late fee of $40 is put forth on Nov. 1. If students fail to pay for their exams by then, the strict deadline is March 6, 2026. Scholarship awards for the exam costs will be announced today, Oct. 17, after being offered by the Prosper Education Foundation (PEF), with the application window open from Sept. 8 to Sept 19.
“Taking the AP exam feels challenging but exciting, since it’s a chance to really test what you’ve learned and earn college credit at the same time,” sophomore Siddhartha Gupta said. “I’d say it’s nerve‑wracking at first, but the experience is rewarding once it’s done.”
The AP course prepares students for the exams, and they are able to earn college credit based on their tests that are scored from one to five, with one being the lowest and five being the highest. Scores accepted for credit may vary for each college, but students can check if they are able to earn credit through Bluebook.
A variety of AP courses are offered at PHS – some of which including English Language and Composition, World History, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science A, Art 2-D Art and Design and more. Students can register for AP exams that are not offered at the school or if they are not enrolled in the class under the ‘independent study’ option.

“Registering for AP Exams offers an excellent opportunity to gain confidence and a realistic understanding of college-level academic demands,” sophomore Jainil Patel said. “Successfully completing these exams can also lead to earning college credit and saving money on tuition, making them a smart investment in your future.”
AP exams are based directly on university-level problem solving skills and critical thinking, preparing students for their advanced academic career.
“Taking an AP exam is a great chance to earn college credit, strengthen your college applications, and give yourself an academic challenge.” AP director and coordinator Courtney Langdon said. “Signing up before Oct. 31 ensures that you are properly registered and do not have to pay an unnecessary late fee. Don’t miss out on the opportunity your hard work in class has already prepared you for.”
Students are able to pay for their exams using credit/debit cards online or paying through mail and are advised to do so soon. If one wishes to cancel their exam, refunds are available. The AP exam refund policy can be found here at Total Registration for more information, and this slideshow provides a step-by-step guide on how to register.
