Student made display brings awareness to fine arts

In Georgetown, sophomore Ava Germany avoids a defender during the state semi-final game. The girls soccer team won this game Friday against Seven Lakes 3-0. The Lady Eagles (26-2-2) went on to defeat Austin West Lake (17-5-2) Saturday, April 13, to earn the 6A Prosper programs first state championship.

Eagle Brief: April 15 – 21

Displayed on a white board is the goals written by members of the Mayors Youth Advisory Council. The committee meets monthly to share ideas with Mayor Bristol. During meetings, updates are shared by the mayor, and the students discuss hot topics to resolve youth relates issues.

Prosper ISD students advise mayor

In front of the lower house, a Relay for Life sign, made by the student council, promotes the event. The event will be hosted to raise money against cancer. The fundraiser will be on the PHS Turf and Track, on April 12 from 6 – 10 p.m.

‘Relay for Life’ raises money to cure cancer

In a circle, GT American Studies students look at the half-eclipsed sun as they lie on the practice turf. Teachers passed out protective eclipse glasses to students at the start of third period. It was definitely a cool experience, junior Jacob Piehl said. It was crazy seeing how quickly the moon came over the sun and how dark everything was. Seen in the photo, starting at the yellow shirt and working clockwise, are juniors Annabelle Nugent, Erica Smith, Savannah Westwick, Sarah Goddard, Lauren Owen, Jacob Piehl and Avery Parker.

Total eclipse brings students together to view once-in-a-lifetime event

Eagle Brief: April 8 – 14

Arms outstretched, junior Faith Tull and sophomore Brooklyn Reeves reach the climax of their performance. The pair performed I Know Where Ive Been from Hairspray. The song is basically about marching for freedom for black people and no more segregation, Tull said. Its really just the characters talking about how there is a plan, that there has been suffering, that there are things that they need to do and that they can do it together.

Who: National Art Honor Society (NAHS) members

What: Setting up a display out of tennis balls decorated by art students to bring awareness to the fine arts

When: April 28, 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Where: Prosper High School Studio 1037

What’s Next: The National Art Honor Society will have their final meeting on May 12, where senior members will receive their cords for graduation.
