Eagle Brief: Oct. 5-9

Eagle Update
- The homecoming parade is postponed until Nov. 18 due to an increase in district COVID-19 cases.
- The varsity football team is quarantined for the next two weeks, and the game against DeSoto Oct. 9 is canceled.
- Cockrell Elementary School is closed due to the number of COVID-19 cases on the campus. Learning will continue virtually for students Oct. 5. Superintendent Dr. Holly Ferguson said they plan to reopen in-person instruction Oct. 13.
- To keep track of the number of PISD COVID-19 cases, the dashboard explains the total number of students and faculty and the number of COVID-19 cases in the district.
- PISD students and faculty should answer the daily COVID-19 screening questions before they attend in-person learning.

- The Talon Radio will air Halloween stories on their station for the month of October
- The homecoming election is this week, and students can vote here.
- Tennis competed against Allen High School, and lost 2-17 Oct. 6
- Volleyball won 3-0 against Allen High School Oct. 6
- The swim team won overall against Rock Hill and Lovejoy. Check out the slideshow here
- PISD is upgrading the internet at 8 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 7, the upgrade will last 4 hours and affect services like Google Classroom and Google Drive.
Upcoming
- Prosper theatre will perform their first virtual production of “Almost, Maine” on Oct. 8, 9 and 10. Go to the Prosper Theatre website for tickets and more information.
- The end of the nine weeks is Oct. 9.
- There is no school Monday, Oct. 12.
