Every time he runs out on the field, varsity captain Anthony Yarrobino said he brings a determination to improve for his team. United together, to kick off the start to the 2026 season, he and his teammates have one goal in mind: playoffs.
Yarrobino began playing soccer 13 years ago, playing on many different teams over the years. He’s been a member of Solar’s club team for about three years, as well as being involved in Prosper’s soccer program since his freshman year. This is Yarrobino’s first year as the captain of the varsity soccer team.
“I’ve been playing since I was 5 years old,” Yarrobino said. “And, at this point, the thing that keeps me going is my teammates.”
Yarrobino’s spark for the sport started at a young age when soccer was introduced to him by his mom.
“I think my passion for soccer started because of my mom,” Yarrobino said. “I started playing when I was really young because of her, because that’s what she did growing up. Then she made me want to start playing, and I just liked it ever since.”
As a student athlete, Yarrobino balances school with soccer by getting his schoolwork done before practices and games. He plans on continuing soccer throughout college at Utah Tech.
“My biggest accomplishment is probably committing to play soccer in November,” Yarrobino said. “To go play soccer in college at Utah Tech University.”
Throughout his journey, Yarrobino has faced challenges and has had to overcome many trials. Despite this, he stayed determined to improve, and said he looked to his team for inspiration, to be able to get to where he is today.
“My biggest challenge was probably just not being able to play, like, two years or three years ago,” Yarrobino said. “I guess I overcame it by putting in more work, trying to get better and watching the other players around me.”
Despite these trials, Yarrobino said he’s been able to look at his team and be reminded of how much they’ve grown over the years.
“I keep a positive mindset when facing setbacks by just thinking about what our team has done well,” Yarrobino said. “And, knowing that we could do it again, even though we didn’t play the best in that moment.”
Prosper coaches named Yarrobino student athlete of the month in January.
“Another big moment was when my Solar team made it to the Dallas Cup Final,” Yarrobino said. “We also made it to the 2025 ECNL playoffs.”
Over his career, the athlete has had many learning opportunities, and one lesson in particular has stuck with him over the years.
“I’ve learned that practicing and doing stuff on your own is probably the best way to improve and become better,” Yarrobino said. “Instead of just relying on going to practices with your team.”
Yarrobino said he understands better than most that the journey to success is rarely a straight line. When asked what advice he would give to young players looking to become accomplished, he points toward the idea of consistency.
“Just keep playing,” Yarrobino said. “Don’t stop because if you stop, that’s when you start to get held back.”
As Yarrobino leads the varsity team, they are determined to make their name well known districtwide.
“As a team, our goal is mainly to make playoffs for district,” Yarrobino said. “Especially because it’s my senior year.”
Not only is Yarrobino a team leader, he is also a preeminent player.
“Individually, I’d like to be the district MVP this year,” Yarrobino said. “That would definitely be a great accomplishment.”

I come to ENO all the time to see screen updates for PHS and I love how they are showcased. My feedback would to be to get them up a bit sooner closer to the game that way I know where to look! This is so inspiring!
