Holding my last note, I sit and watch the crowds reaction to our performance. Everybody in awe including the whole band. Tears start to fill my eyes knowing that our season wouldn’t end there.
I am Ava Ruhter. I am a freshman who is currently playing the flute in the marching band that you see in these pictures. I took these photos to show how hard the band works together – and the achievements we have received already. Band has become my second home – and my safe space.
These people turn out to be your closet friends you will ever meet. You end up going through the highs and lows with them which creates long lasting bonds.
For those considering adding band to their schedule, just do it. Marching band can give you so many more life skills, including social skills and fitness.
We found out that we made state on Saturday Nov. 2 at 9:33 p.m. It was an incredible experience creating bonds with other bands and making so many memories. When we finished our performance, a roar of a standing ovation from the crowd arised. I have been waiting to experience that moment, and it felt so well deserved.
We earned fourth place, and the top four bands move on to state. State will be held in San Antonio, Texas, and we will be leaving Nov. 10 for it. The day we get back from state, we leave for Grand Nationals that same night. Once we make state finals or Grand National finals then we are eligible for letter mans, even as a Freshman. That competition will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have so much ahead of me, and I can’t wait to see whats next. I hope these photos showed you a little bit of the behind the scenes of the Prosper Mighty Eagle Band.
