As the 2024 season comes to an end, the Prosper Swim and Dive team comes together to celebrate their achievements.
This year junior Addison Johnson broke two school records in the 50 free race and 100 free race with times of 24.04 seconds and 51.90 seconds. For the free relay event Johnson, junior Ava Goodwill, sophomore Sienna Acuff and freshman Kendall Backus broke records for the 200 rree relay at 1:38.48 minutes and a 400 free relay at 3:35.83 minutes.
As they scored new records senior Jacob Wimberly finished at the 50 free race at 20.19, seconds and the 100 free relay at 43.39 seconds and the butterfly at 46.63 seconds. Senior teammates Wimberly, Brayden Jones, John “Tre” Stewart and Michael Morrow scored a new record in the 200 Free Relay at 1:31.90 minutes. Wimberly, Jones, Morrow and Meng Yeo competed in the 400 free relay and set a new record of 3:03.96 minutes. Jones complete a new record in the 100 backstroke race with a time of 49.50 seconds.
Some members of the team received awards. These awards are not only based on individual player performance, but teamwork performance as well. Freshman Avery Ringger and senior Jaylen Sharp received the ‘Most Improved’ Award. Sophomore Pierce McHam received the ‘Best Diver Award’. The ‘Swimmers of the Year’ Award went to junior Addison Johnson and sophomore Brayden Jones. Johnson also received the ‘Eagle Award’ along with senior Wyatt Nelson.
Head coach Chris Stroh honored each senior of the team. The senior girls included Jaeda Crabtree, Carly Garner, Rachel Griffith and Freya Leivers. The senior boys include Ethan Ashton, Andrew Gallagher, Nolan Heimbuch, Tristan McHam, Eli McWard, Wyatt Nelson, Caden O’Hearn, Jaylen Sharp, Tre Stewart and Jacob Wimberly. Each senior had a slide with where they are planning to go for college and what they plan to study along with their favorite memory from this year on the swim team.
The night came to an end with senior speeches from Leivers and Stewart. The banquet, held in the community room at Children’s Health Stadium, began at 6:30 p.m. and ended at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.
