Students participate in HOSA blood drive

119 viable donors show up to ‘give the gift of life’

Hooked up to the machine that collects your blood, senior Nicole Rendon waits as her blood is drawn. The blood drive was hosted by HOSA where they partnered with Carter Blood Care. “Honestly, I’ve never (donated blood) before, and I wanted to try it, and plus you get a chord too if you donate twice,” Rendon said. “I was nervous at first, but honestly it wasn’t that bad.”

What’s Next? HOSA plans to host another blood drive in the spring and one at Student Council’s Race For The Cure event.

Through a collection of photos, senior Sofia Ayala reflects on last year to set this year's goals. This year, her one-word resolution is 'balance.' "This year, I'm looking forward to managing my time better and creating a balanced lifestyle," Ayala said. "I want to get more into journaling and finding new ways to de-stress as I go through the year."

As she steps foot in the cold, photographer Ava Ruhter peaks outside to the ground covered in snow. No cars drive as everything remains silent. “When it snows, it absorbs sound which makes it even more quiet outside,” Ruhter said. “It looks like it should be Christmas morning.”

Released on Nov. 22, the 2024 film "Wicked" was well-received, with an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was adapted from the musical of the same name, which was adapted from the book of the same name, which was based on the movie "The Wizard of Oz" and tells the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West. Famous actors in the film include Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey and Jeff Goldblum.

"I love Downtown McKinney during the holidays," Duncan said. "The energy of the town is so nice. I love visiting with my mom during any time of the year."
ENO staff shares winter break moments
Shaking hands, junior Khloe Roan celebrates her two Talonette teachers, Ashley Sharp and Colleen Hunt. Roan has been a Talonette for three years at Prosper. "I truly could not pick between these wonderful ladies no matter how hard I tried," Roan said. "They've done so much for me, whether it was helping me grow as a leader and eventually into a dance officer, being people to put down as references when I applied for a job or being some of the first people to cheer for me after getting the job."

Standing together, Prosper paramedics and attendees engage in conversation before the meeting starts. These paramedics were invited to the meeting to receive the Life Saving Award as they played a vital role in saving Dr. Greg Bradley's life.
School board meeting celebrates staff
Arms up, senior Hannah Lee smiles at the camera. Lee is the only senior on the girls varsity team. "The best part about the season was being able to have successful games," Lee said. "And have a memorable senior year."
Swimming with success: Varsity water polo teams end season with celebration

On Dec. 10, Max Preps ranked the boys varsity basketball team as No. 13 in Texas and No. 4 in the region. Head Coach Scott Imes leads the boys varsity team along with assistant coaches Ryan Lamberson, Gabe Owens, and Matthew Alford.
Prosper Varsity 'sweeps' crosstown rivals
Hands clapping, senior Branson Reeves gets the crowd loud. Prosper is currently ranked 21st in the state. "My goal for the rest of the season is to get at least one more touchdown," Reeves said. "I also want us to get through the playoffs at least through the third round."

Sophomore Elizabeth Cohorn can be found dancing as a line member of the Prosper Talonettes Drill Team, completing her annual goal of reading 150 books, baking, and listening to music. This is her first year working on Eagle Nation Online as a reporter, and joined ENO because of her passion for writing. Her love for writing started in third grade with her first short story titled "Kindness Counts" and as a member of the staff, she is most excited about writing feature articles.

Sophomore Kate Duncan spends her free time creating, whether it's a clay pot or a news article. Her passion for creativity led her to join the team, where she is excited to be able to bring new stories to light. This is her first year working on Eagle Nation Online as a reporter. When she isn't in school, Kate enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and making collages in her journal.
