Prosper girls’ powerlifting team places 2nd overall, athletes qualify for state

Click the photo above to start a slideshow with information about the regional powerlifting meet. Powerlifting teams from across Texas competed in the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association meet on Feb. 28 in the Prosper High School arena. PHS football teams and coaches helped run the event by spotting the lifters and setting up equipment. Multiple Lady Eagle powerlifters achieved personal and school records with their performances. The girls powerlifting team placed 2nd overall at the meet, and five Lady Eagles qualified to advance to the state meet, which will be held on March 13. The athletes that qualified to compete in the state meet over spring break are: seniors Juliana Cruz, Gabrielle Ocasio, Taryn Van Biezen, and Nikai Draper, along with junior Janie Stevenson. Two PHS athletes from the boys’ powerlifting team, juniors Trey Shirey and Leonel Anguaiano, also qualified for the state meet.

News Brief: End-of-year senior information, dates and more
After golf regionals, sophomore Erica Lee, junior Kendall Simms, freshman Tatum Churchman, freshman London Pearson and junior Sophia Duque present their scores. The team finished fifth and were district champions. Churchman led with a score of 71.

Lady Eagles kick their way into 1st state championship
Lighting the path, members of the community honor student made lanterns across the track. The path glowed for students and community members once the sun set. The student council helps organize Relay for Life annually at PHS in the month of April.

It was definitely a cool experience, junior Jacob Piehl said. It was crazy seeing how quickly the moon came over the sun and how dark everything was. Seen in the photo, starting at the yellow shirt and working clockwise, are juniors Annabelle Nugent, Erica Smith, Savannah Westwick, Sarah Goddard, Lauren Owen, Jacob Piehl and Avery Parker.
Total eclipse brings students together to view once-in-a-lifetime event
About to land, senior Nathan Tenbarge competes in the long jump event. Tenbarge played quarterback for the football team during track off-season. He placed sixth in his event.
Track takes runner-up in district, advances to area meet
Arms outstretched, junior Faith Tull and sophomore Brooklyn Reeves reach the climax of their performance. The pair performed I Know Where Ive Been from Hairspray. The song is basically about marching for freedom for black people and no more segregation, Tull said. Its really just the characters talking about how there is a plan, that there has been suffering, that there are things that they need to do and that they can do it together.
Theatre students perform songs, monologues, scenes at Cabaret
As he jumps onto junior Jai Akash Gopikrishnan Kumudavallis back, junior Ajay Adithyan spends time with his friends at the Indian Student Association Holi celebration. The best part of this is meeting the community and just having fun, Adithyan said. We get to meet up with friends and enjoy cultural activities together.

As he prepares for the game, senior Caden Berg helps out teammate junior Lucas Tauzin with his captain arm band. This is the first playoff game of the season. This season has been very different to other seasons through out mentality and chemistry. Our team comes in to every game fired up and ready to go, Berg said. Last season we came into playoffs thinking we won something already and ended up losing, This season we knew what we had to do and we went out there and did it.
Boy's soccer team wins first playoff game, advances to next round
Shaking hands with the diving coach, sophomore Pierce McHam received the Best Diver Award. Some teammates recieved awards for their performance throughout the year as a player and as a teammate. The banquet took place in the community room at Childrens Health Stadium.
Swim and Dive team celebrates end – of – season banquet

Stick extended junior David Androes hustles back on defense. Androes was awarded the WE award after the game. This award is given out to one player after each game, and represents the hard work put in by players and coaches to show the values of Prosper lacrosse.

Pulling 315 pounds, senior Juliana Cruz sets a new high school record for the 114 weight class. Tess Gagliano is a Senior at Prosper High School and currently serves as an Executive Design Editor for Eagle Nation Online and Eagle Nation Times. Outside of school she enjoys reading, writing, and working on her own art. She also plays club volleyball, makes jewelry, and helps take care of foster cats and other animals on the family farm. Juliana Cruz, a former native New Yorker, is a senior at Prosper High School. This is her second year working for Eagle Nation Online and she serves as social media manager, news editor and Editor in Chief. She enjoys writing and wants to continue to expand her coverage. Outside of school and work, she is on the powerlifting team and spends her time with family.

Riley McConnell, Chief Operating Officer
Riley McConnell is a senior at Prosper High School and is the Chief Operating Officer for Eagle Nation Online. This is her third year on staff and is involved in the Football Operations Department, an organization she is a founding member of. She is also the head photographer for the school's baseball team, alongside pursuing her personal photography career.
