The Prosper boys powerlifting team secured first place on Saturday at the S&S Powerlifting Invitational, led by a record-breaking performance by senior Angelo Yeck.

Yeck, competing in the 165-pound weight class, earned a gold medal and set two school records with a 405-pound bench press and a 1,435-pound total. Jackson Haines also took home a first-place medal in the 148-pound class, finishing with a 1,230-pound total. Other top performers for the boys included silver medalists Cole Freeman (198-pound class) and Jackson King (242-pound class), while Leo Anguiano (181-pound class) and Drew Alderton (198-pound class) both earned third-place finishes.

On the girls powerlifting team, the Lady Eagles saw two lifters place in the top five during Thursday’s session. Alyssa Gallaway led the group with a third-place finish in the 105-pound weight class, totaling 520 pounds. Isabella Lopez followed closely in the same division, taking fourth place with a 515-pound total.
“My goals this year were to work on my strength,” Nora Yeck said. “And kind of just see what I can do.”
The Lady Eagles will return to action at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Prosper High School. The boys are scheduled to compete again Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m.
