  • New club: Medical Outreach Initiative. There will be a meeting at 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 26 and 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 28.
    • Every month we focus on a different body system
    • Dedicate each medical topic to an activity (ex. Podcast = Procedures, Diseases = Video Animations, etc.)
    • Posts on social media begin with general information and end with how they apply to developing countries
    • Topics that we cover include: Diseases in developing countries + why they aren’t able to solve it/what they lack. Treatments used in developing countries + how they affect the population compared to developed countries. How we can use our resources to help/give developing better access. Our unique approaches and solutions to addressing the issues.
  • The Counselors are finishing up the one on one meetings with the Juniors about their course selections for next year. Sophomores – we will begin your meetings after Spring Break and Freshmen meetings will follow up in April. As a reminder to all 9th, 10th and 11th graders – please check your course selections in Skyward. If you would like to make a change, please use the QR code that is posted on the doors of the Upper and Lower house.

All donations go to special education schools and facilities in the US and India for children in need.

Each year, Prosper ISD gives back to the community for those families in need through Stuff the Bus. This service opportunity provides resources for Grace Bridge and Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors to replenish their food banks. We are asking that you help support this cause by donating items such as Cereal, Sugar 4# Bags, Canned Chicken, Toilet Paper and Toothpaste. Items can be dropped off in The Nest during the week of Feb. 26 – March 1. Let’s all show our support and Stuff the Bus.

  • Senior Vanessa Rolan set a new School Record in the high jump with the win at 5’8”
  • Last week, the Varsity Speech and Debate Team traveled to Melissa, TX, for the National Qualifying Tournament.  Nine students advanced to the National Tournament in June and brought home two sweepstakes trophies in Congressional Debate and Speech Events.

Arms in a heart, senior Nathanial Crabtree leads the student section in a cheer. The Eagles will play Plano West next on Nov. 7 at John Clark Stadium. The next game will be the last district match before heading off into playoffs.

Donning purple and pink clothing, students cheer at a football game. The last home game of the season will take place Oct. 31. The Eagles will be competing against Princeton High School. The theme of the game is neon.

Helmet in hand, junior Cade Smallwood stands for the national anthem. The team displayed "Smile for Sadie" stickers on their helmets to honor Talonette junior Sadie Neddo after her death Oct. 14. The students dressed up in pink and purple to show support and honor her memory.

Richland High School hosted a 'Sign the Beam' event on November 13th. I’m looking forward to the excitement that will come with a new school." Corbett said. "I mean, look at all the media attention Walnut Grove got when it opened. It’s going to be a lot like that, and Richland students will be right at the heart of it."

Ready for questions, HOSA's information table about the blood drive stands organized outside of the cafeteria during lunch. The table will be out two weeks prior to the event. "During lunches, like any lunch you have, you just go up to that table and then they'll give you more information," said sophomore Maryam Alshawi, HOSA member. "And you can make an appointment."

Performing as one, the Rock Hill Band plays in place of the Mighty Eagle Band on October 4th at Children's Health Stadium. The Rock Hill Pep Band will play stand tunes for the Prosper playoff game tonight. “Even with our friendly competition that all three schools have, we still want to make a clear message that all of Prosper ISD is still one,” Rock Hill drum major senior Maxwell Lee said. “Also, we understand the importance of Grand Nationals as a competition for the PHS band, so we want to support their trip and we wish them the best of luck.”

Light on, the Moon Tree is being stored in the floral design classroom until it's planted next week. The tree will be planted outside of the cafeteria in the back of the school. Librarian Stephanie Riley partnered up with the USDA Forestry to receive a Moon Tree. “We also have a digital globe, but it's like a citizen science app where students can also help collect data that actually gets submitted to NASA to help with research about tree growth and everything,” Riley said. “So once we get it planted, then we'll start bringing everybody into it.”
From the moon to the school
Overlooking the main entrance of Prosper High School, Sgt. Christopher Reeves creates a break to allow for the buses to leave the campus at the end of the school day. Without officer intervention, the bus drivers have a difficult time leaving the parking lot. "It's the best set up that we can possibly offer," Reeves said. "We've had years where buses lined up in front of the cafeteria, and they all exited Frontier (Park)."
New traffic protocols to alleviate congestion
Students start to see changes with their social media accounts. Instagram announced Sept. 17 it will add new restrictions for teenagers going into 2025. These restrictions include a new age verification policy, changes in privacy, protection from suspicious adults, new restrictions on content, parent supervision and notifications. Climbing down the stairs, Donald "Skip" Phipps walks out of his bus. He drives bus 116-D. "I've had some times, driving for other places, when students, students weren't the nicest," Phipps said. "But, (since he's worked with students in Prosper), I just, I just enjoy driving the bus."

Every day, the buses arrive at school to pick up students and bring them places. Thanks to the district's new travel policies, these buses will rarely be used to go out of state. The policies affect programs in the Fine arts and Career Technical Education Department.

Standing in green Malcom Hill continues his passion for football as a coach. This marks his second year working for Prosper High School. "I kind of fell in love with the sport in middle school," Hill said. "Played it throughout high school and up until college.”

Kaya Miller, originally from Los Angeles, California, moved to Prosper, Texas in 2017. She attends Prosper High School as a senior. This is her third year on staff, and she is co-editor-in-chief of Eagle Nation Online and editor-in-chief of the print newspaper Eagle Nation Times. Miller is on the Prosper debate team as historian. She is also president of the Spanish Honor Society. Miller is also on the Dallas Rowing Club Juniors team. In her free time, she enjoys baking and playing guitar.
