Seniors come together at Sunrise for annual tradition

As she prepares to take a photo, senior Loretta Sofi spends time with her friends before going back to school. Senior Sunrise started at 6 a.m. on the PHS baseball field. The student council provided a light breakfast for seniors including donuts and orange juice.

Inflated fun
With Christmas decorations hanging over a street in Downtown McKinney, photographer Kate Duncan shops with her mom. McKinney adorns their town with festive apparel every December. "I love Downtown McKinney during the holidays," Duncan said. "The energy of the town is so nice. I love visiting with my mom during any time of the year."
ENO staff shares winter break moments
Focused on students, Mayor David Bristol and Prosper ISD school board vice president Dena Dixon showcase their duties to the government classes. The students learned about the obstacles faced in the town council, and got more insight to Bristol's job. "The town facilities, the municipal services that we have, this is not normal," Bristol said. "People come to this area. In the last five years, a lot of you guys moved here for the school district, specifically.  Your parents brought you here so you can go to the ISD. That is not the same. There are not people clamoring to go to some of this districts to the south of us. So, we have something unique and special here, and I want to continue that."
Mayor encourages students to get involved in community
Playing a crucial role in the logistics of Civic Leaders of America, Texas Chief of Staff senior Mara Gonzalez Moral addresses the room with confidence. CLA is an entirely student-led organization with the mission of fostering civic engagement among high schoolers through regular debates, local conventions, information about current events, activism and volunteering opportunities. "Being a part of CLA has truly been the most rewarding activity of my high school years," Moral said. "I hope that if you join as well, you will find that you experience can be just as incredible."
Empowering future leaders
Waiting to check donators in, HOSA members work the blood drive they hosted before Thanksgiving break. The blood drive was located in Gym 1 and took place Nov. 21. "(The blood drive) allows people to donate blood for those who really need it, and so it's a really great thing that so many people come out and donate blood in order to help others," senior HOSA member Lily Lopez said. "It is really crucial for them."
HOSA fosters support in community
Rooted in the ground, students team up to plant the Prosper Moon Tree. The Moon Tree was planted on Nov. 15. "Building the tree from NASA is very inspiring," sophomore Brody Ham said. "It opens our minds to how life is."

Hands clapping, senior Branson Reeves gets the crowd loud. Prosper is currently ranked 21st in the state. "My goal for the rest of the season is to get at least one more touchdown," Reeves said. "I also want us to get through the playoffs at least through the third round."

Side by side holding their sousaphones, senior Nathaniel Ray and sophomore Cameron Lovejoy endorse the time they have with each other. Ray wears his sash showing his desire for band throughout his high school years. The senior band members were recognized at the beginning of the game.

As she holds her medal, senior Regan Reed laughs with family and friends. Reed finished in 17th place on the varsity girl's team. The teams run the UIL 6A–District 6 meet tomorrow.

Throwing the ball up, senior Catherine Biju prepares to serve. Biju played along side her teammate senior Gaby Nielsen. "When I step on the court, I feel excited and a bit nervous," Biju said. "You never know what is going to happen in the match, so it can be nerve wracking to compete. Yet the challenge and working toward a goal makes it really fun."
Eagles celebrate senior night with clean sweep
Head bowed, junior Justin Alfano leads the team in prayer after the game. Alfano plays as the second string quarterback. "I thought it was great I was able to be a part of my team and lead the team in prayer because I like to share my faith in every way I can and spread His name, word, and gospel," Alfano said. "Being able to do that with my team made me really happy."
Football takes homecoming game win
Reaching with one hand above her head, senior Hannah Lee successfully blocks another shot. Lee is the only senior girl on the varsity team, and has been playing water polo for four years. “I am eternally grateful for the experiences and memories Prosper Water Polo has given me,” Lee said, “And I will carry them with me throughout my life.”

"Leaning more into my faith by trusting God's plan for me is something I want to improve on," Deutsch said. "There are going to be hard things I will experience this year, but it will also be exciting as I have many things to look forward to."

With ravaging southern California wildfires and President Trump's inauguration, juniors Trisha Panicker and Aarushi Rana analyze how this news affects everyday lives. "The fires killed at least 27 people, destroyed more than 12,000 structures and put more than 80,000 under evacuation orders," Panicker said. "The fires are likely to be among the most destructive in California history."

One foot in front of the other, senior Hayden Crotts prepares his next play. This is Crotts' fourth year on the soccer team. This was the first district game of the season.

In a collection of pictures, senior Jake Radcliffe makes his way through the first semester of his final year of high school. His one word resolution is "self-care." "Throughout my life, especially in high school, I have always prided myself on being able to do 'the most,'" Radcliffe said. "However, this approach to life came with its challenges."

Senior Erica Deutsch leads the Multi-Media section of the newspaper. This is her third year working for Eagle Nation Online. She adores photography and hopes to create a positive impact with her writing and podcasts. She is excited to publish video packages and continue sharing the powerful stories of others. Senior Sofia Ayala leads Eagle Nation Online as Editor-in-Chief. This is her fourth year working for Eagle Nation Online. She served as Assistant Editor for Eagle Nation Times and served as the Feature Editor in the past. Sofia is part of the varsity PHS Talonettes drill team where she enjoys dancing with her team. Outside of school, she loves going out on runs, reading, and listening to music.
