College representatives come to Prosper

Administrators from colleges all around the country came to the high school last Monday for “College Night.” High schoolers in all grade levels, as well as their parents, were allowed to attend.

 

Four colleges which a large percentage of students here go to were asked about who read college essays as well as general tips for juniors and seniors when applying.

  • Stand out in a crowd (What makes you unique?)
  • Reasoning of why UTD is important to them specifically
  • Take a campus tour to get a better feel of the environment
  • Take some AP and Dual Credit classes to show you are willing to challenge yourself
University of Arkansas 30-35 deans and/or social administrators
  • Think outside the box
  • Three essay topics of which one is normally easier so students should stand out
  • Organize all of your deadlines and meetings in a planner
  • Do not procrastinate with the admissions process
Oklahoma State University Specific admissions counselors
  • Answer two out of four essay topics to the best of your ability
  • No right or wrong answer so use these essays as a way for OSU to get to know you better
  • Take the SAT and ACT your junior year to see which you like better and take it again your senior year

  • Talk about what you are passionate about
  • Mention why you chose ISU and how it is important to you
  • Apply to the major you are most interested in
  • It’s okay to be undecided because 20% of those who apply to colleges nationwide are

 

The admissions process for juniors starts as early as July of 2018 and have already started for seniors. These four colleges, as well as others, have schedules attached to their websites of future events.
