Tuesday and Friday night lights are back. The boys soccer team kicks off their district season tonight as the Eagles travel to McKinney High. Varsity is looking for their first win against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. Meanwhile, sub-varsity plays at 5:45 p.m.

“We’re not reinventing the wheel,” head coach Ryan Rogers said. “We have a lot of new guys on the squad. We are just focused on the season ahead, and trying to get better every day. Our big goal is to develop a cohesiveness and have that chemistry with each other. We need to understand who we are as a team.”

The team hosted their annual Prosper Invitational tournament at Children’s Health Stadium Jan. 16-18.

“Pre-season helped us really come together more as a team and see what works best for us as a team,” senior C.J. Lucido said. “Tonight we just need to focus on playing smart to get that win.”

They ended the pre-season with a record of 4-3-1. They will play the McKinney Lions tonight.

“I am planning to spend a lot of time with the team in order to build chemistry on and off the field,” senior Nathan Smith said. “Personally, I want to be playing my best soccer and contribute to the best of my abilities. To succeed, the team cannot play as individuals, and we need to find our flow in order to play our game.”
