Cross-country teams prepare for UIL 6A–District 6 championships

Teams compete Oct. 11 at McKinney’s Myer’s Park; Varsity girls, boys warm up with 2nd & 3rd finishes

Eyes on her goal, junior Alivia Spangler runs toward the finish line, ready to receive eighth place. Spangler has been running on and off since kindergarten, but she said she started getting serious her freshman year when she set a goal to make the varsity elite team. "Cross country is about being strong enough to be yourself, being yourself enough to stand apart, but being wise enough to stand together," Spangler said. "It's a team sport that requires everyone to play their individual parts."

"My favorite thing about the Unified Track is the competition and how everyone gets hyped about it," York said. "We get to bond more with the kids, from just partners, you're kind of helping them, but this you get to participate too, and it's just a fun environment."

Hands clapping, senior Branson Reeves gets the crowd loud. Prosper is currently ranked 21st in the state. "My goal for the rest of the season is to get at least one more touchdown," Reeves said. "I also want us to get through the playoffs at least through the third round."

Side by side holding their sousaphones, senior Nathaniel Ray and sophomore Cameron Lovejoy endorse the time they have with each other. Ray wears his sash showing his desire for band throughout his high school years. The senior band members were recognized at the beginning of the game.
The Mighty Eagle's band takes off
Throwing the ball up, senior Catherine Biju prepares to serve. Biju played along side her teammate senior Gaby Nielsen. "When I step on the court, I feel excited and a bit nervous," Biju said. "You never know what is going to happen in the match, so it can be nerve wracking to compete. Yet the challenge and working toward a goal makes it really fun."
Eagles celebrate senior night with clean sweep
Head bowed, junior Justin Alfano leads the team in prayer after the game. Alfano plays as the second string quarterback. "I thought it was great I was able to be a part of my team and lead the team in prayer because I like to share my faith in every way I can and spread His name, word, and gospel," Alfano said. "Being able to do that with my team made me really happy."

Mandem enjoys spring break before she walks the stage at graduation on May 22. "It was nice to spend some time in nature and take some time away from school," Mandem said. "It was bittersweet remembering that it was my last high school spring break."

Waves rolling, sophomore Elizabeth Cohorn relaxes on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama during spring break. This was her first time going. "I had a great time in Gulf Shores," Cohorn said. "It was very peaceful, and it was nice reading a book while hearing the ocean waves."

Freshman Polly Greaves renovated this graphic for their new episode on Canva. The book they read this episode is "Five Survive" by Holly Jackson. "Me and Heather Davis have advisory together, therefore, while I was reading this book, I got to look over at her now and then, and ask, 'why do you like this book so much?'" said Greaves. "And she just looked back at me like I was a complete weirdo and, you know, that just made my day."

The varsity team will play against Quinton Creek this Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Prosper High School Baseball field. The game will start at 3:30 p.m.

McKinney Boyd defeats mens varsity soccer 1–4
With Christmas decorations hanging over a street in Downtown McKinney, photographer Kate Duncan shops with her mom. McKinney adorns their town with festive apparel every December. "I love Downtown McKinney during the holidays," Duncan said. "The energy of the town is so nice. I love visiting with my mom during any time of the year."
ENO staff shares winter break moments
Shaking hands, junior Khloe Roan celebrates her two Talonette teachers, Ashley Sharp and Colleen Hunt. Roan has been a Talonette for three years at Prosper. "I truly could not pick between these wonderful ladies no matter how hard I tried," Roan said. "They've done so much for me, whether it was helping me grow as a leader and eventually into a dance officer, being people to put down as references when I applied for a job or being some of the first people to cheer for me after getting the job."

Born in Lenham, England, freshman Polly Greaves has called 14 other places home and recently arrived in Prosper, Texas, ready to dive into the pool and pursue water polo. During the day, you can find her writing a new book, practicing her Spanish or playing the piano. Polly is stoked to start her first year of high school. She is looking forward to the variety of courses offered at Prosper high school, to give her more opportunities to follow her passions and interests.
