Junior class ring ceremony celebrates educators

Students honor educators, reach milestone

Shaking hands, junior Khloe Roan celebrates her two Talonette teachers, Ashley Sharp and Colleen Hunt. Roan has been a Talonette for three years at Prosper. “I truly could not pick between these wonderful ladies no matter how hard I tried,” Roan said. “They’ve done so much for me, whether it was helping me grow as a leader and eventually into a dance officer, being people to put down as references when I applied for a job or being some of the first people to cheer for me after getting the job.”

Smiling for a photo in the crowd, junior Madelyn Rutledge and Amelia Easley received their respective award and class ring. The ring ceremony began at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. "Coach Easley has encouraged my development in sports medicine alongside my academics," Madelyn Rutledge said. "She has motivated me to step out of my comfort zone and engage with people I do not know that well."

Playing a crucial role in the logistics of Civic Leaders of America, Texas Chief of Staff senior Mara Gonzalez Moral addresses the room with confidence. CLA is an entirely student-led organization with the mission of fostering civic engagement among high schoolers through regular debates, local conventions, information about current events, activism and volunteering opportunities. "Being a part of CLA has truly been the most rewarding activity of my high school years," Moral said. "I hope that if you join as well, you will find that you experience can be just as incredible."

Standing together, Prosper paramedics and attendees engage in conversation before the meeting starts. These paramedics were invited to the meeting to receive the Life Saving Award as they played a vital role in saving Dr. Greg Bradley's life.
School board meeting celebrates staff
As he takes a break from his column, freshman Jah'siah Dennis stops to check in in with photographer and teammate sophomore Mark Carbajal. Before this picture, Dennis had been working on publishing the attached column. "You should never be scared to move schools," Dennis said. "A new place could always be better."

Prosper Varsity 'sweeps' crosstown rivals
Hooked up to the machine that collects your blood, senior Nicole Rendon waits as her blood is drawn. The blood drive was hosted by HOSA where they partnered with Carter Blood Care. “Honestly, I’ve never (donated blood) before, and I wanted to try it, and plus you get a chord too if you donate twice,” Rendon said. “I was nervous at first, but honestly it wasn’t that bad.”

Hands clapping, senior Branson Reeves gets the crowd loud. Prosper is currently ranked 21st in the state. "My goal for the rest of the season is to get at least one more touchdown," Reeves said. "I also want us to get through the playoffs at least through the third round."
Football defeats Princeton, looks forward to playing Plano West
While the audience watches, junior Boyd Mueller sings into a microphone. Mueller plays Hades. Prosper Theatre's "Hadestown: Teen Edition" was chosen to be performed at the Main Stage at the Texas Thespian State Festival in Grapevine. "Generally, Main Stage is a privilege almost exclusively given to private fine art schools," stage manager senior Annabelle Nugent said. "The fact that a public school like Prosper is getting Main Stage is fantastic. Simply, it means that we are at the level of schools who specifically draft for stuff like fine arts and singing and dancing ability, and it's really a compliment to our actors and our technicians."
Prosper Theatre shows varsity musical
Holding up a 'Smile for Sadie' sign, senior Gavin Teague and junior Alyssa Milner stand in the Talonette section. The Talonettes performed a dance dedicated to their teammate Sadie Neddo. A prayer was held at the end of the game to honor her.

As she continues to jump around the bends of different creative tasks, junior Victoria Byers has entered her first year on Eagle Nation Online. She has a passion for fashion and a mind for mental health. Outside of school, you can find relaxing to music with her mom, practicing band with her drum line, or planning her outfit for tomorrow. Tori said she hopes to expand her knowledge on clothing, creative writing, and others' lives. She has currently reported on sports photography along with a few stories around school events.
