Girls cross country places second at state, Esports wins tournament, Early Signing Day Ceremony honors athletes

Upcoming

  • The monthly school board meeting will occur Monday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
  • Varsity boys golf will compete in the Argyle Fall Open away Monday, Nov. 15.
  • Varsity girls basketball will play Rockwall-Heath away Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Varsity boys basketball will play Rockwall home Tuesday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m.
  • Varsity swim and dive will compete in TISCA away Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 18-20.
  • Varsity wrestling will compete in the South Oak Cliff Duel home Thursday, Nov. 18.
  • Varsity boys basketball will play Jesuit away Friday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m.
  • Varsity girls wrestling will play in the Lady Cougar Duels away Saturday, Nov. 20.
  • Thanksgiving break will occur from Nov. 22-26.

Student Council organized dress-up days for Nov. 15-19:

  • Monday: Family – freshmen dress as toddlers, sophomores as elementary students, juniors as middle school students, seniors as fraternity or sorority members and teachers as senior citizens
  • Tuesday: Individuality – wear crazy hats and socks
  • Wednesday: Entertainment – dress up as a TV, movie or video game character
  • Thursday: Unity – freshmen wear red, sophomores wear orange, juniors wear yellow, seniors wear white and teachers wear brown
  • Friday: Expression – bring anything but a backpack

Uplifting

  • Cross country competed in the UIL 6A State Meet. The girls team finished as state runner-up. The boys team placed eigth in the state.
    • Senior Aubrey O’Connell finished the 5K race as state runner-up.
    • Junior Shewaye Johnson finished third overall.
    • O’Connell and Johnson both earned CCAT All-State Honors.
  • The Texas Association of Future Educators participated in an area meet on Friday, Nov. 5 at Texas A&M Commerce. Six students — Ashley Bledsoe, Alivia DiDonato, Riley Dossett, Suhyoon Lee, Morgan Reese and Skyler Stubblefield — advanced to the state meet which occurs in March.
  • FFA competed at the District 4 LDE Contest in Anna Thursday, Nov. 11. The chapter took home second place sweepstakes.

  • The Esports team won first place at the GCISD Rocket League Tournament.
  • The Early Signing Day Ceremony occured Wednesday, Nov. 10 before school. 15 seniors signed to play sports at a college at the ceremony.
