Performing as one, the Rock Hill Band plays in place of the Mighty Eagle Band on October 4th at Children's Health Stadium. The Rock Hill Pep Band will play stand tunes for the Prosper playoff game tonight. “Even with our friendly competition that all three schools have, we still want to make a clear message that all of Prosper ISD is still one,” Rock Hill drum major senior Maxwell Lee said. “Also, we understand the importance of Grand Nationals as a competition for the PHS band, so we want to support their trip and we wish them the best of luck.”

Light on, the Moon Tree is being stored in the floral design classroom until it's planted next week. The tree will be planted outside of the cafeteria in the back of the school. Librarian Stephanie Riley partnered up with the USDA Forestry to receive a Moon Tree. “We also have a digital globe, but it's like a citizen science app where students can also help collect data that actually gets submitted to NASA to help with research about tree growth and everything,” Riley said. “So once we get it planted, then we'll start bringing everybody into it.”

From the moon to the school

Overlooking the main entrance of Prosper High School, buses enter the parking lot in the morning. Bus riders arrive later than car riders, meaning that they don't experience the bad traffic other students do. "Traffic is not that bad because I ride the bus," sophomore John Cohorn said. "I'm there almost always on time."

New traffic protocols to alleviate congestion

Arms in a heart, senior Nathanial Crabtree leads the student section in a cheer. The Eagles will play Plano West next on Nov. 7 at John Clark Stadium. The next game will be the last district match before heading off into playoffs.

Eagle Brief: Nov. 4 – 9

Students start to see changes with their social media accounts. Instagram announced Sept. 17 it will add new restrictions for teenagers going into 2025. These restrictions include a new age verification policy, changes in privacy, protection from suspicious adults, new restrictions on content, parent supervision and notifications. Donning purple and pink clothing, students cheer at a football game. The last home game of the season will take place Oct. 31. The Eagles will be competing against Princeton High School. The theme of the game is neon.

Eagle Brief: Oct. 28 – Nov. 1

Helmet in hand, junior Cade Smallwood stands for the national anthem. The team displayed "Smile for Sadie" stickers on their helmets to honor Talonette junior Sadie Neddo after her death Oct. 14. The students dressed up in pink and purple to show support and honor her memory.

Eagle Brief: Oct. 21 – Oct. 25

As she rests in front of her decorated room, first-year Prosper Independent Career Study teacher Carrie Behrens said she anticipates an exciting year ahead, full of opportunities. “I’m just really, really looking forward to having the experience that I get to share with all of you,” Behrens said. "I feel very honored to be able to work with these amazing students."

Eagle Brief: Oct. 14 – 18

Coated in ice, the pond at the front of the Star Trail neighborhood development in Prosper sits peacefully blanketed in snow. Last week, large sections of Texas were hit with a snowstorm that caused power outages and water issues. In Prosper, the entire school district was closed Feb. 11-19.

Seniors will pick up their cap and gowns today during lunch. Any cap and gowns not picked up will be delivered to students’ houses by May 1.

Grace Williamson is the 2020-2021 Editor-in-Chief of Eagle Nation Online. This is her third year on the school newspaper, and she was previously the 2019-2020 sports editor. She plans to strengthen the newspaper as a team, and help promote brilliant reporting and coverage this year. Following graduation, she plans to major in criminal justice at a currently undecided college. Christi Norris, Chief Operating Officer and Editor of Multimedia

Christi Norris was born in Colorado, but for most of her life, she's called Seattle, Washington, home. She moved to Prosper in the summer of 2019 and has loved it ever since. Christi is a senior who is passionate about photography, podcasting and writing. She is excited to fill the role of Chief Operating Officer and Editor of Multimedia for the 2021-2022 school year and can't wait to help other journalists grow and achieve their goals. In her spare time, you can often find her working at a plant shop, reading books or watching movies. Christi will be attending Brigham Young University this summer and majoring in communications.
