Analysis: Prosper looks to beat Plano during senior night after loss to Allen 35-7

In an Eagle face-off, Prosper (7-2) fell to Allen (9-0) in the matchup at Children’s Health Stadium Friday, Nov. 1, with a final score of 35-7. As the fourth quarter approached, it seemed to be harder for the home Eagles to fight. Prosper’s 276 yards did not compare to Allen’s 522. But, Prosper did push into Allen’s red zone before turning over the ball, keeping the score 28-0. Jackson Berry played through an injury throwing 121 yards overall.

The Eagles knew it was going to be a hard game going into the night, but they were not able to get the upper hand as Allen forced punts for Prosper’s first five drives. As they headed into the locker room after the first half, Prosper trailed 21-0. The home team’s only points came from Tyler Bailey’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Yet, with their overall 7-2 record, Prosper has clinched a spot in the playoffs. If they manage a win over Plano (3-3), they will be placed in Division I. The Wildcats will travel to Children’s Health after coming off a loss against McKinney Boyd, 28-0. Plano sits right under the Eagles in district standings. McKinney ranks fifth and sports the same 3-3 record. The Wildcats will have to win over the Eagles to assure their spot in playoffs. But, if the Eagles want to advance into Division I, they have to walk away winners of this last district matchup.

Senior Ana Arredondo is the Editor-in-Chief of Eagle Nation Online, the student publication of Prosper High School. She is a part of the yearbook and newspaper staff on campus, competes on the UIL Journalism team, and is also a member of the student council. She has received several recognitions and awards for her writing, including an "Excellence" in sports writing at the JEA National Convention. She promises to strive to do her best with coverage of all Prosper events and students. Ana plans to double major in journalism and business. You can usually find her on the sidelines with a camera.

Caroline Wilburn, Sports Editor

Caroline Wilburn, a senior, has lived in Prosper, Texas, since 2010. This is her second year on staff, and she holds the position of sports editor this year. In addition, she serves on the editorial board for Eagle Nation Online. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with friends, family and her dogs. She also plays for the varsity tennis team and looks forward to combining her love for sports and journalism together.

Lexi Goodrum, Writer

Lexi Goodrum is a senior at Prosper High School. She has lived in Prosper for ten years. This is her first year to be a member of the online newspaper team. She enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with friends and family. She writes book reviews for Eagle Nation Online, and would like to pursue her passion for reading by majoring in English. She wants to be an editor for a book or magazine publishing company and be a writer on the side.
