Upcoming

  • If you are a veteran and work at PHS, fill out this form so that student council can honor you.
  • Join Hope Squad on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Chili’s in Gates of Prosper to participate in packaging meals for those in need. To register, follow this link. Registration ends Nov. 8.
  • In Rocketry Club, which is dedicated to designing and building rockets, members collaborate to participate in exciting rocketry competitions. These events offer the opportunity to showcase engineering skills and compete for substantial prize money while gaining hands-on experience in aerospace technology and teamwork. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.
  • The blood drive is for any student who is eligible. Students who are 16 years old must have a signed permission slip before signing up and if they are 17 and older they can sign up anytime. The blood drive will be held in the gym on Thursday, Nov. 21.
  • Donate small gifts/stocking stuffers appropriate for ages 0-18 for the Cornerstone Stocking Stuffer Drive. Donations will be due to a bin outside of room 1238 by Dec. 2.
  • FCCLA is partnering with Cornerstone Church to host a Gift Wrap Essentials Drive! Donate wrapping paper, gift tags, tape, bows, medium and large bags and tissue paper to help spread holiday spirit! The donation deadline is Dec. 4, and drop-off is located in rooms 1110 and 1208.
  • PHS is partnering with TEXAS CASA to provide foster kids with needed items in the area. A tree will be placed in the Peagle (middle section of the school) for anyone to pick an “Angel” to bring a gift from Dec. 3 to Dec. 11.

Uplifting

  • Let’s honor our PHS veterans Thomas Gomez, Ryan Denham, Vincent Seymour and Nathan Payne!
  • It’s National Novel Writing month! Join writers worldwide in writing 50,000 words of a rough draft in a novel by Nov. 30.
  • Band competed in Indiana for Grand Nationals on Nov. 14–16. They took 11th place in the nation out of more than 100 bands.
  • The Rock Hill High School Pep Band played for PHS at the playoff football game on Nov. 17.
  • Students from the Ready, Set, Teach program here at PHS competed at the Texas Association of Future Educators Area this past weekend with great success. Three students will be moving forward to State in February. Kayden Bradley will be competing in job interview and exploring administrative careers. Olivia Davis will be competing in children’s literature. Ava Dwyer will be competing in educators rising moment.
  • The recipients of the 2024 College/High School NATAS Student Production Awards (from the same organization that awards the EMMYs) were just announced Nov. 18. The outstanding filmmakers of Eagle Production Group, and broadcast journalists of Eagle Nation News, won a total of nine awards! Please congratulate these amazing individuals the next time you see them—this is a truly incredible honor!
  • High School Newscast was awarded to Landry Long (executive producer), Parker Reynolds (producer), Christina Krasnova (news director), and Coleman Meier (technical director) for “Eagle Nation News Season 11, Episode 28.”
  • High School – News: General Assignment – Serious News was awarded to Coleman Meier (investigative reporter) for “Cyber Security Hits Home.”
  • High School – News: General Assignment – Light News was awarded to Parker Reynolds (Reporter) for “Bonding or Breaking.”
  • High School – Sports was awarded to Christina Krasnova (reporter), Madi Koepp (reporter), and Colton Boston (reporter), for “Ryder Barr.”

Eagle Brief: Oct. 14 - 18
Poms out, senior Haylee Alexander cheers towards the crowd. The Cheerabilities program, a cheer team for special need students, joined the team on the sidelines at Friday's game. "My favorite part of Friday's game was definitely helping with Cheerabilities," Alexander said. "I love those girls and they just make our games so much better."
Eagle Brief: Oct. 7 – Oct. 10
On the court, the junior varsity volleyball team huddles with their coach during a timeout. The Lady Eagles swept Princeton High School 3-0. “Everything I love about volleyball is getting to know the kids and helping them grow,” varsity assistant coach Mary Beth Spinuizzi said. “Not only in skill, but in character, on and off the court.”

Ready for questions, HOSA's information table about the blood drive stands organized outside of the cafeteria during lunch. The table will be out two weeks prior to the event. "During lunches, like any lunch you have, you just go up to that table and then they'll give you more information," said sophomore Maryam Alshawi, HOSA member. "And you can make an appointment."

Performing as one, the Rock Hill Band plays in place of the Mighty Eagle Band on October 4th at Children's Health Stadium. The Rock Hill Pep Band will play stand tunes for the Prosper playoff game tonight. “Even with our friendly competition that all three schools have, we still want to make a clear message that all of Prosper ISD is still one,” Rock Hill drum major senior Maxwell Lee said. “Also, we understand the importance of Grand Nationals as a competition for the PHS band, so we want to support their trip and we wish them the best of luck.”

Light on, the Moon Tree is being stored in the floral design classroom until it's planted next week. The tree will be planted outside of the cafeteria in the back of the school. Librarian Stephanie Riley partnered up with the USDA Forestry to receive a Moon Tree. “We also have a digital globe, but it's like a citizen science app where students can also help collect data that actually gets submitted to NASA to help with research about tree growth and everything,” Riley said. “So once we get it planted, then we'll start bringing everybody into it.”
From the moon to the school
Overlooking the main entrance of Prosper High School, buses enter the parking lot in the morning. Bus riders arrive later than car riders, meaning that they don't experience the bad traffic other students do. "Traffic is not that bad because I ride the bus," sophomore John Cohorn said. "I'm there almost always on time."
New traffic protocols to alleviate congestion
Students start to see changes with their social media accounts. Instagram announced Sept. 17 it will add new restrictions for teenagers going into 2025. These restrictions include a new age verification policy, changes in privacy, protection from suspicious adults, new restrictions on content, parent supervision and notifications. As she rests in front of her decorated room, first-year Prosper Independent Career Study teacher Carrie Behrens said she anticipates an exciting year ahead, full of opportunities. “I’m just really, really looking forward to having the experience that I get to share with all of you,” Behrens said. "I feel very honored to be able to work with these amazing students."

Standing in green Malcom Hill continues his passion for football as a coach. This marks his second year working for Prosper High School. "I kind of fell in love with the sport in middle school," Hill said. "Played it throughout high school and up until college.” 
Malcolm Hill brings faith to the field
After school, freshman Michelle Ayala interviews junior Elizabeth "Betty" Gacek. At just 17 years old, Gacek has already accomplished balancing her academics with having fluency in eight languages as well as overcoming a series of challenges with her dyslexia. Her life is split between two distinct countries and cultures. She spends her summers in Poland for schooling and the rest of her time in Texas. “In Poland, the culture is more serious," Gacek said. "If you smile, it can be perceived as being dumb or creepy. In Texas, it’s a more casual and friendly atmosphere where smiling and casual interactions are common.” 
1 student, 8 languages, 1 year & 2 countries
The Eagle Nation News team which usually gives viewers a 15-minute program with each episode of Season 11, instead this week covered the homecoming parade. Wednesday, Aug. 30, the ENN crew brought live coverage for those who couldn't make the parade in-person. If you missed it, click the play triangle to watch.

Eagle Nation Online staff members talk about Tyler the Creators new album "Chromakopia" on their new podcast. The hosts are senior Jake Radcliffe, junior Victoria Byers, sophomore Gracie Patterson, and freshmen Max Allen. This is their first episode of the podcast.

As Jennifer Delano strikes up a conversation with Tiffany Ballard, they discuss the upcoming details for the Toyota Symposium. A PCIS event where students get the opportunity to make connections, and speak with professionals. “During my first year at Prosper, I taught all the marketing classes,” Ballard said. "Later, I was asked to lead the PCIS program to increase its enrollment. When I first took over, we had only 11 students. Now, we have 400 across Prosper ISD."
From marketing at Sega to adviser
Flags waving, students at Prosper High School honor our veterans. Veterans day occurs annually on Nov. 11. On Nov. 9 the Town of Prosper hosted a 5k, 'Fun Run', and 10k in honor of Veterans day.

Born in Lenham, England, freshman Polly Greaves has called 14 other places home and recently arrived in Prosper, Texas, ready to dive into the pool and pursue water polo. During the day, you can find her writing a new book, practicing her Spanish or playing the piano. Polly is stoked to start her first year of high school. She is looking forward to the variety of courses offered at Prosper high school, to give her more opportunities to follow her passions and interests.
