This will mark the team’s first district game of the season against Midlothian High School. The game will take place at the PISD Children’s Health stadium. This game is also going to showcase the seniors with it being senior night.

The Eagles have kept a streak of four wins and one tie since their first district game on Jan. 3.

The men’s varsity soccer team faced their first opponent of the season – Midlothian, Friday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Prosper ISD Children’s health stadium. After a successful round of tryouts, the varsity boys soccer team kicked off their first game on senior night. All of the 12 seniors were recognized on the field before the game.

I think the most challenging part of the season is getting back into our form, right now we have a lot to work on as a team and we will get our form very soon, we just have to work as a team and produce as a team.

— Nick Ocasio, senior

The Eagles, led by Bryan Thompson and assistant coach Mario Ramirez, have 17 games and tournaments scheduled for the rest of the district season (not including playoffs.) Looking back at last year, the team ended last season with 13 successful wins, five losses, and two ties. MaxPreps ranked Prosper high second in the district behind Allen – who ended their 2021-2022 season with a record of nine wins and two losses. Prosper has a district record of eight wins and two losses.

Alongside their other opponents, the Eagles are looking to compete against the Rock Hill Blue Hawks for another ‘Battle of the Birds.’ This is the first year that the teams will face off, now that Rock Hill has advanced to the 6A division due to UIL guidelines. This anticipated match will occur later in the season on Jan. 24, 7:30 p.m. at PISD Children’s Health Stadium.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how well the teams play this season – I enjoy cheering them on,” Steel said. “I am also looking forward to see how far they will go in the playoffs as well as the Rock Hill game.”

Another awaited game this season is the team’s game against the Allen Eagles. Prosper’s opponent took the overall win last season, leaving Prosper with a 2-0 loss. Allen’s overall record is 16-5-2 and were ranked first in district. The first game against the Allen Eagles will take place on Feb. 7, 7:30 p.m. at the Allen stadium. The team will face one more time, Mar. 7, 7:30 p.m. at the PISD Children’s Health Stadium.

The Eagles have been working endlessly during pre-season to have a bright season this year. The fans are eager to cheer on the Eagles this year and see what they will accomplish this season. Sophomore Nicole Steel commented on her excitement to watch the Eagles ‘soar this year.’

The team will compete in their next tournament on Jan. 12 and it will go on up until Jan. 14. The tournament will be located at Keller Central high school. Thompson has been working with his athletes to prepare them to head out on the field for the tournament.

“I think we competed well,” Thompson said. “We made some improvements that will hopefully help us in the upcoming district schedule.”
