Prosper on track to win Lone Star Cup
April 19, 2018
UIL awards the Lone Star Cup annually to one high school in each of the six classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A) to honor the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas, according to performance in district and state competitions.
So far, Prosper accumulated 56 points, making it the top school in 5A.
“[Winning the Cup] means that your school excels in many UIL areas, exhibiting a school that is supportive cross-curricular,” AP Rachell Grant said. “Essentially it is an opportunity to brag on our students.”
As the school has never won before, this year may bring the first ever Lone Star Cup. Winning showcases the extracurricular activities offered at the school.
“I think that we have a REALLY good shot, but it is still a wildcard,” Grant said. “I think that people will understand even more that we are supportive of athletic, academic and fine arts programs. We support and fund them all. This will likely bring talented students our way seeking to be a part of such successful programs.”
